Chapter 29 - 79 Brother, you're here again

"Xiao Fan, I'm done. Have you eaten yet...?"

"Huh?"

"Is the spider here too?"

The sorceress walked into the office carrying a stack of yellow talismans and was somewhat surprised when she saw the spider.

"Ha ha..."

Having completely relaxed, the spider was no longer afraid. He even had the energy to tease the sorceress: "I was worried about you, so I rushed back as soon as I finished work. Xiao Fan told me you were making talismans, so I even bought your favorite fried chicken..."

"So, how about it? Can I have an iced Coke today?"

He grinned slyly and handed a glass of iced cola to the fortune teller.

The fortune teller muttered "bitch" under her breath, took the cup of cola, and casually and lazily put her hand on Lin Fan's shoulder, pressing her bulging chest against his shoulder without any hesitation.

"Whether I can drink iced cola or not, you should ask Xiaofan."

"We just went through a cornfield together this morning, Xiao Fan, don't you think?"

Looking at the spider's wide eyes, Lin Fan nodded sheepishly, "Yes, to heal me, the sorceress took me to the cornfield and even used magic to turn the corn seedlings into a bed. The sorceress tied me to the corn bed..."

"Later, later..."

"What happened next?" The spider chewed the plastic straw, making a squeaking sound.

"Later, the sorceress covered my face with a red handkerchief or a red veil. The handkerchief smelled so good..." A smile appeared in Lin Fan's eyes.

"Impossible! It can't be possible!"

The spider shook its head violently, its face filled with disbelief: "This is all fake, isn't it? You're lying to me!"

"Hmph, you don't need to believe it, this has nothing to do with you in the first place."

Seeing that the spider's eyes were almost bulging out, Lin Fan explained, "Just kidding. Although we did go into the cornfield and the fortune teller did tie me to the cornbed, I didn't obey her."

"I broke free of the corn chains and killed the thing that tried to possess me. Don't worry about me."

"Spider, are you worried about me?"

"Huh? Possession? Killing? You mean... something possessed you? The sorceress didn't kidnap you for that?"

"Huh? What is it? What else could it be?" Lin Fan's eyes widened, his smile deepening. The sorceress beside him couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Alright, alright, Spider, stop acting like you're at a disadvantage. It's like I'm your boss. Hurry up and eat. We'll leave together this afternoon."

Where to?

Upon hearing that a mission was coming up, Spider's expression became much more serious.

Go to your favorite place.

"Buckingham".

...

Six o'clock in the afternoon.

It was already December.

By 6 pm, it was completely dark.

Spider drove a black and green SUV and slammed on the brakes in front of Buckingham.

Lin Fan, sitting in the back seat, rolled down the car window and curiously examined the Buckingham car at night.

Unlike in the morning, as night falls, Buckingham City is illuminated with dazzling yet ambiguous lights both inside and out.

Amidst the flashing neon lights, the sweet laughter of women emanated from the magnificent lobby, rapidly warming the dark night.

The portly men laughed happily as they walked together through that ambiguous and alluring door.

The Buckingham under the night sky exudes a vibrant energy completely different from that during the day.

Spider in the driver's seat tensed slightly, and his heartbeat noticeably quickened.

He was excited.

"Ha ha ha ha..."

"Come on, little brother, little sister! I'll treat you to some fun tonight!" He blurted out the playful words he'd uttered two months ago, pushing open the car door first. Lin Fan and the sorceress followed closely behind.

At the entrance, the young man in charge of sales, or rather, the greeter, had already set his sights on the obviously expensive SUV. When he saw a spirited young man, a handsome teenager, and a beautiful woman with a graceful face who looked both mature and youthful, get out of the car, he was taken aback at first, but then walked towards the three of them with a beaming smile.

"Brother, you're here again."

Spider blushed slightly, glanced cautiously at the sorceress, and, making sure she hadn't noticed the word "again" in her words, felt a sense of relief.

But then, as the young man led the way, he whispered to the fortune teller, "That 'You're here again' is a common phrase used in places like this. It's to make customers feel less awkward and more relaxed. It also creates a sense that we know each other well. It doesn't mean I'm a regular customer of theirs."

"I don't know this young man," Spider explained with a serious expression.

Holding his younger sister, Lin Fan immediately looked at him with admiration, thinking to himself, "Brother Spider knows so much. I don't know anything about this. Looks like I still have a lot to learn!"

The fortune teller scoffed, "You don't need to explain these things to me. First of all, I'm nobody to you. Whether you frequent Buckingham or not has nothing to do with me."

"Secondly, you know so much about this kind of place, it seems you frequent such places..."

"Spider, I've discovered that you're not only shameless, but also a bit stupid."

Passing the dumbfounded spider, the sorceress was the first to enter the main hall.

Just as Lin Fan was about to step into the lobby, he suddenly heard a familiar cough.

cough.

Cough cough!

He turned his head sharply and looked at the newsstand to the left of the gate.

The old man I saw this morning was coughing as he handed a pack of cigarettes to a burly, tattooed man next to him.

Lin Fan looked the old man up and down, and after confirming that there was nothing unusual, he followed Spider into the hall.

"Brother, sister, want to go clubbing or a private room?" the greeter asked Spider politely.

Spider glanced at the fortune teller, then laughed heartily, "Find a private room near the dance hall for your brother. He can sing whenever he wants, or go clubbing if he wants, without any problem. Also... find a few girls to come and sing and drink with the three of us."

As he spoke, his body trembled rhythmically a few times, and with a flick of his finger, two silver coins flew up, tracing a beautiful parabola before landing in the greeter's hand.

"Okay, bro, I'll make sure everything is arranged perfectly for you."

Lin Fan remained silent, standing behind Spider, his gaze subtly sweeping over everyone in the lobby and corridor.

The eerie, faded space and the scene of corpses that appeared during the day did not materialize.

But he still naturally swept his gaze across all the people coming towards him, observing their movements and expressions.

Looking for the discordant parts.

The little sister in her arms had the same expression. She smiled and widened her eyes, which were pitch black without a trace of white, like a pair of obsidian-carved stone balls.

He watched with curiosity as everyone walked past his brother.

Lin Fan frowned.

At that moment, he saw nothing out of place or suspicious about anyone.

It's as if these people never died at all!

They came back to life.
