Chapter 79 - Spreading the Truth

In the corner of the future he had seen, Uchiha Ryōsuke was the one to lead the Uchiha clan down the path to prosperity. As for himself, being the Clan Head was too suffocating and incompetent. He had been forced by the Konoha leadership to relocate the entire clan grounds, a great shame from beginning to end, yet he had been powerless to stop it.

With Ryōsuke, he could finally lay down this heavy burden. He didn't covet the position of Clan Head; it should be held by the most capable person.

Hearing Fugaku's words, Ryōsuke quickly waved his hands. "Clan Head, that's not necessary. You're doing a fine job. I have no desire to be the Clan Head."

'In the end, strength is the foundation for survival in the ninja world,' he thought. 'Although I'm approaching invincibility in the early stages, I haven't reached the true pinnacle of the ninja world yet. I still need to improve my strength. How could I have any interest in managing the clan's trivial affairs?'

Even though his current abilities were sufficient to handle the threat of the clan's annihilation and even deal with enemies within the Leaf Village, when looking at the entire ninja world, figures like the Akatsuki's Nagato Pain with his Rinnegan, the turncoat Obito, the mother-saving Black Zetsu, Uchiha Madara, and even Kaguya-hime were not opponents he could easily handle right now. He had to get stronger. But there was no need to rush, as he still had time to improve.

Fugaku was surprised that he would reject such an important position. It seemed he truly wasn't someone greedy for power and influence; the look in his eyes couldn't be faked.

Just then, Ryōsuke spoke up. "Clan Head, there's actually something I wanted to talk to you about. Why hasn't the clan spread the truth about the failure of the peace talks yet, to let all the villagers of Konoha know what really happened?"

Uchiha Fugaku asked, looking a bit puzzled, "Is that necessary? Does it really matter what the villagers think?"

Ryōsuke's eyes widened. "How could it not matter? The Leaf Village is the place where our Uchiha clan lives and thrives. The villagers' discussions will inevitably influence how other ninja see us. If everyone in the village despises our clan, how can the Uchiha live comfortably?"

Thinking about it, Uchiha Fugaku realized he had a point. "Alright, I'll have people spread the word immediately. It's just that I feel even if the villagers know the truth, they might not agree with your actions."

Ryōsuke was very satisfied with Fugaku's response and said slowly, "There may be a group of selfish people who would preserve their own lives at the expense of others, but not everyone is that selfish. There will be others who think we did the right thing. Handing over one of our own to appease an enemy's anger is the most shameful thing imaginable."

Uchiha Fugaku's spirits lifted. It was indeed shameful. If the Leaf Village was shamed, the Uchiha clan, being a part of it, would naturally feel the shame as well.

Seeing that Fugaku had agreed to his suggestion, Ryōsuke prepared to leave. "Clan Head, if there's nothing else, I'll be heading back."

Improving his own strength was the proper path.

Fugaku had nothing more to say, so he let Ryōsuke go. Watching Ryōsuke's departing figure, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. The Uchiha clan had a bright future ahead. From now on, he just needed to follow Uchiha Ryōsuke's lead; he was the hope of the clan. He would do as Ryōsuke instructed. With a genius like him, and another like Shisui, how could the clan not prosper?

After leaving the shrine, Ryōsuke went straight back to his house and began his training. He skillfully kneaded his chakra and instantly opened the first four gates. His chakra surged, and a powerful aura erupted from his body.

Immediately after, he began to assault the Fifth Gate, the Gate of Closing. He once again gathered his chakra and slammed it into the gate located in the middle of his spine. The familiar feeling of pain washed over him again, but this time, it felt slightly lessened. Though it was only a slight reduction in pain, for Ryōsuke, it allowed him to attack the gate even more fiercely.

When one attempt failed, he kneaded his chakra and attacked again. After more than ten attempts, with a loud bang, the Gate of Closing opened. His chakra surged even more violently.

At the same time, a terrifying aura exploded from Ryōsuke, sending all the objects in the room flying and even causing the entire house to tremble for a moment before stabilizing.

He felt the power within his body. Although it was stronger than before, he felt it wasn't as powerful as Might Guy in his prime opening the Seventh Gate. At his peak, Guy with seven gates open was strong enough to contend with Six Paths Madara. Their speeds were comparable, and he could even suppress him. Ryōsuke wasn't that strong yet.

Opening the Fifth Gate increased his power by about five times, whereas the Seventh Gate provided a thirty-fold increase. Although his own base physical stats were higher, a five-fold increase was still no match for peak Guy's thirty-fold increase from the Seventh Gate. However, the Sixth Gate provided a ten-fold increase, and he felt he was probably a bit stronger now than peak Guy with the Sixth Gate open.

When peak Guy opened the Sixth Gate, he was already strong enough to defeat the Mist Village ninja from the original story, Kisame Hoshigaki. Kisame was undoubtedly a Kage-level powerhouse, who could even suppress the Eight-Tails in a fight. For him to be even stronger than a six-gated Guy was proof that he was heading towards the level beyond Kage. He was no longer an ordinary Kage-level ninja; he could probably defeat one with ease.

Theoretically, even if the current Uchiha Itachi had awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan and had a taste of power beyond Kage-level, his overall strength was only slightly stronger than a Kage. He relied on the power of his Mangekyō to emotionlessly wipe out the clan. To kill so many powerful clan members using the Mangekyō Sharingan would naturally consume a massive amount of visual power. That was likely the reason his eyes went blind. He paid any price to annihilate the clan, using his visual power without limit, which led to his blindness. 'What a cruel man.'

If he were to face Itachi now, he was confident he would win. In fact, if he could just persuade Shisui, then Shisui wouldn't die at Danzō's hands, and that traitor Itachi might not even be able to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan. Even if Itachi was determined to massacre the clan, Ryōsuke was absolutely certain he could beat him to a pulp.

In the past, Might Guy could use his ultimate move, Morning Peacock, after opening the Sixth Gate. It involved launching high-speed punches that created friction with the air, generating flames. The combination of shockwaves and flames would continuously batter the opponent. The heat from Morning Peacock was even able to evaporate the lake-like body of water created by Kisame Hoshigaki's Water Style: Exploding Water Colliding Wave.

The power of that move was immense. Ryōsuke planned to develop it himself when he had time. Since Guy could only open five gates at this point in time, he probably didn't know the move yet, but its power was undeniable. Since he had opened five gates and was even a bit stronger than a six-gated Guy, there was no reason he couldn't learn it.
