As after a while of walking and fighting off beast tanks within the vicinity, our march slows to a walk due to the considerably complex terrain near the siegfried line...
And the other reason being nelly's team, the jagdtiger squad...
"Beast tanks ahead, we've lured them into the shelling area! Clear for engagement!" With lena scurrying away while shouting in her radio.
And with a nod nelly starts aiming her gear's main cannon, "Gotcha, preparing a Fire sweep."
As i spot the commanded in deep thought, probably thinking something like 'Why does each round of surveillance keep drawing out a pack of beast tanks?'
As nelly and prima fires their guns at the incoming group decimating its ranks.
With the commander still deep in thought. 'Things could get bad of the fighting continues on like this. I've gotta find a way out and quick.'
Noticing that the commander seems to be deep in thought, i walk up to him and snap him out of his thoughts.
"Uh commander? I me and anastasia found another way down through the line down back this way that dosen't seem to be guarded or patrolled by beast tanks."
As i point back behind me towards anastasia, who came back through a destroyed wall and wave back at the commander.
With a nod the commander grabs his radio and starts talking while follwing me towards the broken wall as the others are finishing up with the current group of beast tanks that came in.
...the march to the research institute continued.
Looking around this worn maze of defence structures and bunkers. 'Phew, never seen the real seigfried line but im 100% sure this is nothing like the seigfried line back on earth.'
As i hear the commander mutter something like, 'the seigfried line really deserves its reputation. The enemy's artillery positions are too densely grouped, it seems that we mist find a way to sneak across it somehow...'
As the commander looks up and brings out a map and i look in with johan since i was curious, "fighting a war of attrition on the seigfried line is just suicidal. The enemy's artillery can just strike and bombard us from a distance."
As i examine the map, and with anastasia i peek through some rubble to try and make sense of where we are on the map.
With nelly neaby shooting back, "we can also return the favor, what are we afraid of!"
As i hear the commandef sigh, "the purpose of this mission is to explorebthr occupied research institute. Spending too much firepower trying to push through wont work, we don't have the supplies to keep it up for long."
As the commander points at the map, "in the case of limited cover like this the best strategy is to trick the beast tanks into spreading their firepower over one flank then strike from the other."
As nelly looks at the commander then the map and then nodding, "well, zoya, raisa, and prima, you three can stay here and engage with the enemy artillery while the rest of us will go around through the side road."
With a nod from prima, an "okay~" from raisa, and zoya nodding back, "just baiting the enemy, easy. Leave it to us."
As the commander then stores the map, nodding to nelly, she heads out first leading the group into a side road as i follow behind the commander with anastasia still hilding the shotgun sized cannon in my arms and the shells in johans bag.
....After flanking and taking out the entrenched beast tanks on the other side, the group continues walking towards the institute.
"Im exhausted... but we managed to get out of the line of fire." Wiping sweat off his forehead, the commander looks up at the group, then towards both of me.
"How come, you two are doing fine?"
As i look at both of myself and shrug, "we don't really know either, just better stamina i guess?"
"The institute is right up ahead!" With lena cutting the cummander off before he could say anything else.
Zoe runs forward a bit of lena, I'm gonna scout it out with jumbo!"
As the commander runs past me and grabs zoe arm, "Wait. You'll be too easily exposed and isolated if you do that."
As zoe points a lena rushing off ahead, "but lena's alrwady gone off. Im just following her." (・_・)
"Oh my god..." the commander covers his face with his palm upon looking at lena running off before shouting to the group, "quickly after her!"
As everyone started running or for the girls "roller skating" quickly towards lena leaving the commander and both of me behind.
The girls barely catch up with lena, who has alreafy initiated combat with the orangutans and gorrilas inside the institute.
As zoe rushes in and shoots at an gorrila that was about to shoot at lena down, "so you just fight without hesitation, huh?"
With me and the commander finally catching up, and the commander quipping in after hearing zoe talk, "don't you?"
Then all of a sudden, a Socrates m3 lee gorrila from the other side of the group opens its mouth to speak catching all of us off guard and shouts, "HUMAN!... WARNING!... LEAVE!."
"A talking beast tank really does exist! I want to take it back alive!" Shouts nelly as she starts rushing towards the socrates while dealing with the others backed by zoya.
"Everyone! Deal with everything else! Zoya assist nelly! You two! Start shooting aswell we need all the help we can get!" As the commander jumps behind a wall and both fo me follow.
Nodding to myself and aiming the cannon.
"Got it!"
"Got it!"
Boom. Boom. Bang. Bang. Boom. Bang....
As the fighting becomes intense inside the somehow very spacious building with me reloading the cannon after every shot anastasia fires taking down a few and injuring some others.
After a while, and with tremendous effort from the girls, they successfully capture the talking beast tank, with it continuing to scream, "HUMAN!... WARNING!... GET OUT!"
With zoe poking the gorrila, "is that all this guy can say?"
With nelly seemingly loosing interest, "how disappointing. Destroy it."
"Wait, let me ask it a couple of questions first." Cuts in the commander.
"From whom did you learn how to talk?" As he crouches down to face the subdued and tied up gorrila.
As the gorrila notions its head and trying to point with its hand towards a kid's picture book on the ground, that looks so old that its pages are torn and wrinkled.
Then the commander asks again, "did you learn it from the people here?"
As it looks at the commander and says, "human... friend..."
Making nelly wide eyed, "what? Thats astonishing! I must take this beast back to headquarters!"
I sigh.
'Wow talk about a big mood switch...'
