But their next reaction made it look like they heard me.
The Sentry raised both its arms again.
Miriam and Lyra exchanged quick glances of fear, frustration, and unspoken trust—a flashing between them.
"Ready?" Miriam asked.
Lyra wiped blood from her chin. "Like hell I would ever think of sleeping like you."
Miriam only chuckled. "I won't let this scrap metal beat us either."
And with that, they dashed from the ground.
Wind and fire spiraled together, clashing into a tornado of gray and gold flames as they circled the Sentry at impossible speed.
The Sentry spun its arm again, this time forming chains of lightning.
Streaks of electric energy crackled across the ground.
Then, a spear of pure lightning stabbed upward, splitting the tornado in half.
Miriam gritted her teeth, shocked at the sight of the horror before her. "It predicted that angle?"
Lyra hissed. "This is getting bad."
