Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Illusion of Destiny

Chapter 12: The Illusion of Destiny

"We are born with promises and we die with regrets; the illusion of greatness always dissolves in contact with nothingness.

While Kaelan was busy helping Râhenhotep, the fallen king, unconscious, was caught in the nothingness of his own psyche, reliving his entire life. He relied his childhood, in a desert world dotted with Golden Pyramids. His mother taught him his destiny: these pyramids were the tombs of the ancient kings, and one day, if his father joined "these kings in the world of kings", it would be up to Râhenhotep to reign. He had promised: "Yes, Mom, I will be one of the greatest kings. "

At the age of 18, he ascended the throne. The elders, judging that he was too young, were destroyed, reduced to absolute nothingness by Râhenhotep's dominance and efficiency in strategy and combat. At the age of 30, he had accomplished more than all his predecessors. His victories and successes only fueled his pride, transforming him into a miserable being who no longer saw people, but servants whom fate had assigned to him. It was at this time that he met Nefirâ, from a noble family. With a simple order, she became his wife, and, strangely, she seemed delighted, as if it were the blessing of her life. Râhenhotep, he just laughed: "Yes, I'm king after all. Hhhhhh. "

The years passed. At the age of 42, he and his wife were transported to this strange world of powers. For a month, they survived thanks to his knowledge of royalty and command. He ignored his status, refusing to believe in a Domination Ability or an Original Defect: Can never have past glory. He didn't even ask Nefirâ for his own status.

One day, they met in the desert a fragile young man dying of thirst. Nefirâ gave him water: it was Nameless. The events followed one another: the Dead Forest, the humiliation of Ahlmaris, the Awakening of his ability where he thought he was unstoppable. Then came the limit of his power, the betrayal of Nefirâ, and finally, the horrible chance that stole his revenge on Ahlmaris.

When he remembered all this, he felt that the defect he had always ignored was not a simple text in a statute, but a condemnation: he could never have the past glory.

In the nothingness of unconsciousness, he heard a voice that saved him, and he begged: "No, let me die. No, I'm tired, why don't you let me? "

He slowly opened his eyes. In front of him stood Kaelan, the young man who had saved him. But Râhenhotep felt no joy, he was an empty shell. Kaelan tried to talk to him, but Râhenhotep did not answer anything. Kaelan thought it had to be the trauma of the fall and undertook to transport Râhenhotep to a safe place. Râhenhotep followed him, like a puppet.

While Kaelan wanted to get away from the rubble, they found themselves facing the group of survivors led by Nefirâ. As Kaelan was about to greet the group, he saw the man he hated the most in the world: Orvek. Kaelan dropped off Râhenhotep. Veins swelled on his face, covering him with anger.

"I accept this sin, but if I hate what I have become, I will never be able to rest before I kill you! Kaelan shouted before jumping on Orvek.

Orvek said to Nefirâ: "Excuse me, Mrs. Nefirâ," then turned to Kaelan: "I have to finish what I started. He thought inwardly: Maybe it's my punishment, after breaking so many lives to ensure me a retirement. The world threw a bone at me: all this fight to kill people and finally rest was destroyed. So, Kaelan, come on, let's finish it all here.

Kaelan attacked Orvek with a punch. Orvek took the blow, but if the pain was real, he simply turned his head, as if nothing had happened. "Why don't you use weapons? Orvek grabbed Kaelan's hand and pulled him towards him, giving him a headbut that made the young man's nose bleed. By the time Kaelan regained his vision, Orvek had already triggered his Ancestral Technique of concentrating all the weight of his body to cut off his enemy in one go. Just before the blade touched his body, Kaelan used his Sleeping Ability: Dust (small wind and sand) to repel the attack.

"Bbbhhhhh! "

Orvek smiles: "Hhhhhh, it seems that Madame Nefirâ was telling the truth: every being in this world has a power. Then he jumped and activated his Unique Ability: Whale.

> Sleeping capacity acquired: it can be as heavy as a whale according to its will.

>

Kaelan wanted to dodge, but Orvek fell as if he weighed tons at once, a blow so heavy and so fast that it was impossible to dodge. "Bhhhhhhhhhhhhh! A large hole formed in the ground. Orvek came out, saying: "I really don't control this ability... broken bones. As for Kaelan, he was in a bloodbath.

Nefirâ says: "Orvek, really incredible your ability! It's really a demonstration of power. Then she turned to the survivors and said: "See! Each of you has a unique ability in this world. At the moment, we can't live alone. Now that we are a group, our first duty is to find the other survivors, and the second is to take the necessary items that fell from the ships: food, medicine, etc. So, let's split up. "

When only Nefirâ remained, she approached Râhenhotep, still amorphous. "You're really pathetic, Râhenhotep," she said with an empty shell. "I really wasn't wrong when I betrayed you. You're just a pawn that has become useless. Look at how I will rule in this new world to show the whole world that women surpass men in all aspects. Then she left.

But in another area, Nameless, watching the day rise, contemplated the corpses that surrounded him. He had an idea. "It will work, won't it? If it really works, my wounds will be healed, after all, I got lucky. He pushed himself, despite his broken body, to get as close as possible to the corpses in order to use his idea.
