"Alright!"
Just as William was considering whether he should make a run for it, he saw the other person throw the small Sidewinder Missile at him!
Instinctively, William caught the missile, then stood still, not daring to move.
Normally, such high-precision weapons wouldn't detonate without authorization, but who knew what that kid had been doing?
He actually used a cutting machine to polish the missile!
William had heard before that someone in China supposedly dared to polish an Atomic Bomb, but he had always thought it was just a joke.
But now?
Maybe he was just ignorant?
"I've fine-tuned the deflection angle and improved the missile's sensor system. Now, the Sidewinder Missile's trigger rate is at least ninety-nine percent!" Ignoring William's stunned expression, Li Qingyuan began putting some small instruments into his box.
As the saying goes, to do a good job, you must first sharpen your tools. The instruments used in the Stark Industries lab were absolutely top-notch. If he had had such a set of tools back in the Pirates of the Caribbean world, he would have attacked Europe long ago!
"Impossible!" William was in no mood to worry about the other party ransacking the lab. He held the Sidewinder Missile in his hand and issued an angry accusation.
This was missile manufacturing, not building blocks. You waved a hammer, a file, and a cutting machine around and claimed to have solved a problem that had plagued the entire experimental team for several months? You're pulling my leg!
Even Tony Stark, at most, would only raise questions on the data and have them make their own improvements. He would never just grab a hammer and fix the missile himself.
"Just try it and you'll see!" Li Qingyuan didn't bother to explain to this person. Of course, the biggest problem was that he couldn't explain it at all.
Was he supposed to tell them that he just felt something was off, and hitting it with a hammer fixed it?
William immediately called a group of researchers to conduct tests. They placed the Sidewinder Missile into the testing equipment and used a supercomputer to analyze it comprehensively.
Stark Industries' hardware facilities were undeniably incredibly powerful. When Li Qingyuan finished his second cup of coffee and was about to go for a walk outside the lab, old William came rushing over, his face flushed with excitement.
"How did you do it?" William grabbed his hands, his expression agitated.
"Personal secret!" Not only did he not know how to explain it, but even if he did, he wouldn't tell this guy.
He had no sense at all. He had been sitting here for over half an hour, and he didn't even think to send over two blonde, blue-eyed secretaries with big chests and long legs to keep him company. He deserved to be fired twice by Tony Stark!
"Mr. Li, if you're unwilling to tell me where the data parameters have issues, our research simply can't proceed," William was a bit speechless, but he figured geniuses had their own personalities, so he could only bring up the contract.
The success of a single missile could only be considered a fluke. Even if it was a finished product, they couldn't use it as a data reference.
"Simple, prepare a hundred Sidewinder Missiles for me, and I'll make you a few more samples!" He patted William on the shoulder and smiled affably.
That was also the second reason he'd come to Stark Industries. Besides triggering the mission instance, robbing the wealthy was a necessary skill for a transmigrator!
Relying solely on manufacturing explosives himself, even with his system skills, would exhaust him. Besides, some high-powered explosives were simply impossible to create.
Take the Atomic Bomb, for instance. Li Qingyuan estimated that if he started from scratch, trying to build a nuclear bomb, it would take at least three to five years!
And that was assuming a fully industrialized world. In a medieval setting like Pirates of the Caribbean, it would be impossible, even in a hundred years.
So, compared to making them himself, it was more cost-effective to get some from the wealthy.
"One hundred?" William was a bit stunned. The price of a single Sidewinder Missile was $120,000. One hundred would be twelve million. This guy really dared to ask.
"What, can't you make the decision? Then go find someone who can!"
"I'll contact the materials department right now and have them send the missiles over." Provoked by Li Qingyuan, William immediately became angry.
He was, after all, the head of the weapons design department at Stark Industries. A few million in supplies was no big deal!
As long as the missile problem could be solved, the military orders would start at a billion, so a mere ten million was nothing!
As for where Li Qingyuan was taking those missiles?
What did it matter to him?
Stark Industries was in the military business. In the eyes of others, a hundred missiles could probably start a small local war, but in William's eyes, it was just that!
He knew that the weapons he sold alone were enough to fight several national wars, let alone a hundred missiles.
Besides, the tall ones would hold up the sky. Since the other party was someone the vice president had instructed, why should he be the bad guy?
Seeing that William agreed so readily, Li Qingyuan suddenly felt that his vision was still too narrow.
Since he already knew that Stark Industries was a wealthy dog, why had he asked for so little?
But changing his tune now just wasn't in keeping with his image as a master of the world, so he had to swallow his loss.
He could always find a way to get some good stuff from Stark Industries later. Like, perhaps, a new Iron Man Armor that Tony had made?
It was just that Tony treated his Iron Man Armor like the apple of his eye. Getting something from him was much harder than getting something from Obadiah.
Stark Industries had amazing financial resources. In just over ten minutes, a hundred Sidewinder Missiles were delivered.
Each missile was only slightly larger than a pen, so a hundred of them fit into a single suitcase.
Li Qingyuan spent another half an hour hammering out four samples, and then he left, carrying the suitcase.
Since he hadn't met Obadiah Stane, he would just use this suitcase of missiles to pay off the debt!
The security guard at the gate saw him come out carrying a large suitcase and immediately wanted to come over and ask what was going on.
Because he used to do this himself and knew how hard it could be for others in the same field, Li Qingyuan didn't plan to make things difficult. He simply called Walter and asked him to explain the situation to Obadiah Stane.
He had no choice. Right now, in the eyes of both Garrett and Obadiah, he was just a small fry. They wouldn't even deign to take his calls. If he needed to contact someone, he had to go through Walter as the middleman!
