Chapter 57 - Chapter 32 Part 1 Deadlock and memories.

Graf Heinz was murdered—something Kafka and Fiona did not expect. This is a serious matter, because it seems to involve Deadlock, a criminal group. It is so serious that Kafka wants to speak with the Queen. Fiona comes along because he recommended it to her.

(Dong!)… (Dong)… (Dong)

Kafka: "Hmm…"

Fiona: "Hmm…"

(Patch!) (Patch!) (Patch)

Both looked angry. Graf Heinz had been more like a good friend to them.

Kafka: "They will regret this."

Fiona: "Whoever it wasDeadlock or another criminal group…"

Kafka: "They will pay for it."

Soldier: "What do you want here?"

Kafka: "My name is Wolf Amedeous Kafka. This is Fiona Philomela Househould. We want to speak to the Queen because of the murder of our boss… Graf Heinz."

Fiona: "Well… boss isn't quite right. More like a mentor."

Soldier: "Oh… I understand…"

He went inside, then came back out.

Soldier: "Hmm… all right. The Queen is sleeping, but this is important, so you may enter."

Kafka: "Thank you."

Fiona: "Mhm."

They went inside.

Kafka: "…Hmm…"

Fiona: "Hmm…"

Kafka: "Hmm?"

It was a huge castle.

Ludwig: "Hello…"

(Patch!) (Patch)

Ludwig: "I don't know who you are. How can I help you?"

Kafka knelt down. Fiona did as well, sighing.

Kafka: "Hmm."

Fiona: "Ouch… my back…"

Kafka: "Ghh… Fiona…"

Ludwig: "Mmm… pfff… hahahahahaha… it's fine, get up, you two."

They stood up.

Kafka: "(Sweats)…"

Fiona: "Sorry, I'm not used to this."

Ludwig: "You don't need to. I'm not the king anywaymy daughter is. How can I help you?"

Kafka: "I am Wolf Amedeous Kafka. This is Fiona Philomela Househould. We both worked for Graf Heinz well, shortly before his death we began working for him."

Ludwig: "I see…"

Kafka: "We came to tell you something important… the Dark Bride has awakened."

Ludwig: "Ugh… is that true?"

Fiona: "We're sorry. We tried to prevent it… but apparently a single drop of blood was enough."

Ludwig: "Hmm… well, that doesn't matter… I already know."

Kafka: "Huh?"

Fiona: "Then why were you surprised?"

Ludwig: "Just like that, hahahaha… I wanted to take the situation seriously. But the Dark Bride… well… she's here… and even staying in the guest rooms."

Kafka: "Huh?"

Fiona: "What?"

Ludwig: "She wanted to speak with me. Come with me, both of you."

They followed him into a room.

Ludwig: "Graf Heinz's death truly shocked us. But unfortunately, because he was a kind-hearted count, the other nobles and counts were not really pleased with him."

Fiona: "Do you think someone planned this—one of the nobles or other counts?"

Ludwig: "Well… I can't really say. These are serious accusations. And if we accuse an innocent person, then someone will have died for nothing."

Fiona: "Hmm…"

Kafka: "That's true…"

He opened the door. The Dark Bride and Gerrard were there.

Lilly: "Oh… hello, Kafka. Hello, Fiona."

Ludwig: "Oh, you've already met."

Kafka: "Hmm? Yes, she spoke with us yesterday."

Fiona: "Mhm."

Ludwig: "I see…"

Lilly: "I came here to tell the Queen that I am not a threat."

Ludwig: "Hmm… why would the Dark Bride do that—come here voluntarily? You are strong enough to kill me and the soldiers right now."

Lilly: "Oh, come on. I'm a pacifist. I don't do such things. If I truly had bad intentions, you'd all be dead already."

Ludwig: "A fair point. Oh, Kafka, sit down. You too, Fiona."

They sat down.

Ludwig: "You must know Graf Heinz's death was naturally shocking. As if that weren't bad enough, rumors have begun spreading. Look at these photos."

Fiona: "Hmm?"

They were foot photos of his daughter.

Kafka: "Uh?"

Fiona: "Um…"

Lilly: "Huh?"

Ludwig: "Huh oh! I mean, look at this one… (cough)."

He placed a photo of Graf Heinz with another person.

Kafka: "Who is that next to Graf Heinz?"

Fiona: "I don't know."

Ludwig: "According to reports, Graf Heinz was supposedly a spy for Demari."

Kafka: "Nonsense. That's not true."

Fiona: "Is there proof that the man next to him is really who they say?"

Ludwig: "Unfortunately, yes. His name was Peter Rieders. He worked for Demari for years… but shortly after that photo, he was found dead."

Fiona: "Hmm?"

Kafka: "Huh?"

Lilly: "Uh?"

Ludwig: "To be precise, he was found dead in his room with a gunshot… directly through the eye—like his idol Rasputin."

Fiona: "Rasputin?"

Ludwig: "Exactly."

Kafka: "Hmm."

Lilly: "Ah, I see…"

Kafka: "But why would Graf Heinz be a spy? That can't be true."

Fiona: "Hmm…"

Ludwig: "That's exactly what we want to find out what Graf Heinz was really doing. I don't think he betrayed us. He loved this kingdom."

Fiona: "But you don't think these are just rumors?"

Ludwig: "They could be."

Fiona: "No."

Ludwig: "Hm?"

Fiona: "I worked for Dark Umbrella for three years I was the spy of a noble family. From age 14 to 17, I spied on a family in Weimarer: the Salvatores."

Ludwig: "Ugh… what?"

Fiona: "There were rumors they were involved in several crimes. Eisenhauer helped me. Coincidentally, their daughter attended the same school. I know exactly how spies operate—I was one myself."

Ludwig: "Did you kill the Salvatores?"

Fiona: "…Yes."

Ludwig: "Ugh!"

Kafka: "You did?"

Fiona: "I killed them. But… I couldn't kill the daughter. She was very young. No matter how much I needed to, I couldn't. So I left her with Eisenhauer."

Ludwig: "I see… how did you kill them?"

Fiona: "I killed Stefan Salvatore by slitting his throat. His wife who enjoyed abusing children I let her bleed out in a bathtub. It was my job, and I did it. And… do you want to arrest me?"

Ludwig: "I should, actually. But evidence was later found that the Salvatores were involved in human trafficking and many other crimes. Why didn't you kill the daughter?"

Fiona: "I don't kill children. It was an order but I couldn't do it. It's pointless. The daughter's name is Renni Salvatore. I don't know if Eisenhauer still had her or if she's grown up by now."

Ludwig: "Hmm…"

Fiona: "Hmm?"

Ludwig: "So why do you think these rumors about Graf Heinz are not just rumors?"

Fiona: "Because these rumors are meant to confuse the people. Whoever is behind this wants to ruin Graf Heinz's image even after his death."

Kafka: "Ugh… that's what I thought too."

Fiona: "The photo is real, but it proves nothing. It could have been a business meeting. Graf Heinz might not have known him. Or Peter Rieders could have been spying on Graf Heinz. Graf Heinz was smart, but very busy—this photo could simply exist because Peter wanted to meet him and Graf Heinz didn't have time to refuse."

Kafka: "It could also be that Graf Heinz knew him and wanted him killed."

Fiona: "I'm not sure. That's possible but Graf Heinz was always against violent measures. Would he really kill someone that way?"

Lilly: "I think both of you are right. It could be that Graf Heinz didn't know him but it could also be that Graf Heinz ordered his death. What if he found out that Peter Rieders was a spy and wanted to get rid of him?"

Fiona: "…Yes. That makes sense."

Kafka: "True."

Lilly: "Hehe."

(Meanwhile)

Duncen: "(Smoking)… hahh…"

(Patch!) (Patch)

Duncen: "There you are… finally… Renni… Salvatore."

Renni: "Hmm… I heard Fiona is here."

Duncen: "Yes… it's time to kill the murderer of your parents."

Renni: "Hmm… Fiona Hamilton…"

Duncen: "Wrong. Fiona Househould. Hamilton was the name of her foster parents."

Renni: "I don't care. I will kill her… for what she did to me."

Duncen: "Didn't she spare your life?"

Renni: "Yes… but she took my parents from me. Mia Salvatore and Viktor Salvatore. They didn't deserve to die."

Duncen: "Hmm… anyway… there is a girl Fiona Househould cares for. Her name is Cossette. She is 11 years old. Kill her."

Renni: "Okay."

Duncen: "Hmm? You're ready to kill a child?"

Renni: "Age is just a number. I don't care if it's a child or not. If it hurts Fiona, it's a win… (No one… no one… is allowed to be with Fiona except me… I thought she loved me…)"

(Memory)

Renni: "Huh?"

Fiona: "Good girl…"

(End of memory)

Renni: "Ghhhh… Fiona Househould… you're dead. I'll make sure of it."
