Shadows Before the Border
The night was really quiet. There were no birds making any noise and the leaves on the trees were not moving all. The night held its breath. It was still that you could hear nothing, not even a small sound, from the birds or the trees everything was just really quiet.
The wind went through the canyon like a person who's very sad. It was slow. It felt old. The wind touched the rocks on the side of the canyon. These rocks were rough. Had old marks on them. The wind seemed to remember how these marks got there. The air had a sound that was hard to hear. This sound was not the wind. It was something that was very quiet and old. The wind had a memory that it was thinking about. This memory was, like a song that you can only hear when it is dark. The canyon was a place and that is why it had this sound. The wind and the canyon and the rocks all seemed to remember things that happened a time ago.
