Behemoth hums beneath me, a low growl that vibrates through my bones. The bike eats up the miles, and soon enough, I'm parked outside my apartment building. School's in session, but honestly, what's the point today? I'm already late, and my brain's buzzing with too much else.
Olivia's leaning against the doorframe, a knowing smirk playing on her lips. "Well, look who decided to grace us with his presence. Thought you'd skipped town, or maybe decided school wasn't your thing anymore, huh?" She winks. "Haven't seen you around much these past few days. Playing hooky?"
"Something like that," I reply vaguely, pushing past her. "Been busy."
Inside, the apartment is just as I left it. Gatomon and BlackGatomon pop out of the Digivice, stretching lazily.
"Finally," BlackGatomon grumbles, shaking her fur. "This place smells like dust."
"It's home, though," Gatomon purrs, rubbing against my leg. "And it's good to be back."
I pull out my Digivice, checking my status. I haven't checked it yet and with the battle against Jokermon and Goblin, I should have leveled up, right?

[Available Points: 15]
Great! The battle pushed my level from 17 to 20! I should start allocating my points.

Most of my points, as usual, went into Strength and Agility. But this time, I put more points into strength. It's getting harder to take down Digimon from the Ultimate Level, so more strength is what I need. VIT and DEX are decent enough, but right now, pure offensive power and speed are what matter most.
My Digivice buzzes, a notification flashing across the screen.
[New Skill Unlocked: Beast Spirit Evolution]
Whoa, Beast Spirit Evolution!?
Beast Spirit Evolution is a form of Spirit-based Digivolution (from Digimon Frontier) where a human uses a Beast-type Spirit and their Digivice to transform directly into a powerful Digimon — and it's very strong, often granting the user Ultimate-level power, elemental mastery, enhanced abilities beyond normal Digimon levels, and access to powerful signature attacks.
Too bad I don't have any Beast Spirits. The System doesn't exactly hand those out like candy. It's a huge bummer, like getting a new game console but no games to play. Still, knowing it's there, a potential power-up waiting to happen, is enough to keep me going.
"Alright, time to open more supply boxes!"
I tapped the icon on my Digivice, opening the slew of Supply Boxes I'd been saving. Fifty, give or take. More than enough to score something good, and I still had plenty of cash if I needed to snag a few more.
"Alright, let's see what we've got," I muttered, starting to open them. White boxes, blue boxes, purple boxes… I tore through them one after another. Digi-Coins, mostly. A few basic Digi-Memories – Gazimon, Mushroomon. Nothing groundbreaking.
The temptation to just buy more boxes with actual money flickered, but I pushed it down. I had a ton already, and Gwen's a new Tamer. I could toss some of these decent items her way.
My fingers tapped faster, the digital rewards piling up. More coins, another couple of Digi-Memories. My eyes glazed over a bit. Was this it? Just… more junk?
Then, a glint. A flash of gold. A Legendary Supply Box. My breath caught. This was it. The big one. The screen flashed, and a new item appeared.
[Beast Spirit of Flame: BurningGreymon]
My jaw dropped. No way. The Beast Spirit of Flame. This was… this was huge. I stared at the fiery icon, the power radiating from it even through the screen. This changes everything.
In the Digimon Frontier anime, BurningGreymon is the ferocious Beast-Spirit form taken by Takuya Kanbara when he taps into the Beast Spirit of Fire — a transformation driven by raw power and instinct that grants him overwhelming flame-based might, incendiary attacks, and the ability to move through lava and withstand extreme heat.
"No way! I actually got it!" I shout, clutching the Digivice. BurningGreymon. This is it. This is the kind of power I've been chasing, the kind that makes a real difference. My excitement bubbles up, a tangible thing that makes my chest feel tight. With this, I can actually take on guys like Jokermon without breaking a sweat.
Finally, I feel like I can go toe-to-toe with anyone. My confidence soars, ready to test this beastly form. The thought of facing down future threats, especially that creepy clown Digimon, doesn't even make me sweat anymore. This is a game-changer.
* * *
The flickering lights of the hidden base cast long shadows across the metallic floor. VirusGoblin's form shimmered, its edges blurring as if caught between two realities. The serum Peter and Gwen had created had stabilized the Goblin half of its being, but the Digimon core was still fighting for control, desperately trying to patch up the damage.
Jokermon observed the struggling entity with a theatrical sigh.
"A pity, really," Jokermon mused, his jester's grin never quite reaching his eyes. "Such a magnificent fusion, brought low by a bit of science and a meddling kid."
Myotismon swept into the room, his crimson cape billowing behind him. His golden eyes narrowed as he took in VirusGoblin's unstable state.
"Report," Myotismon commanded, his voice smooth but carrying an edge of impatience.
"Our creation is… recalibrating," Jokermon replied with a flourish. "The serum did quite a number on its digital core. Still, it seems to be pulling itself back together."
Myotismon's gaze hardened. "The Chosen Child grows too strong. And another has appeared, it seems. Our plans are progressing, but if this 'Cipher' becomes too influential, our designs could be jeopardized." He turned his piercing gaze toward Jokermon. "Continue your search for those susceptible to the Shadowstones. We will require more… assets like this one."
With a final, dismissive glance at VirusGoblin, Myotismon departed, his mind already weaving new schemes. Jokermon, however, remained, a glint of anticipation in his eyes. He reveled in the unfolding chaos, eager for the next phase of their plan. The world was ripe for corruption, and he was more than happy to be the one to sow the seeds.
