The Abomination explodes with dark energy and shadows, and a chilling presence descends upon the battlefield. It's like a bucket of ice water gets dumped on my soul. My blood runs cold, and my breath hitches in my throat. Something seriously wrong is going down. I feel like throwing up, it's so wrong!

"Everyone, get back!" I shout, but I'm not sure if they can even hear me. The air crackles with power, and I know this is going to be bad. So bad.

I activate my Digi-Goggles, hoping for some kind of explanation, some way to make sense of this sudden power surge. The lenses whir to life, scanning the Abomination's convulsing form. Data floods my vision, numbers and symbols swirling around his image.

Then, a word flashes on the screen, stark and terrifying.

"Shademon?!"

What the hell? I recognize the dark aura now – that same sickening feeling I got around Tombstone, Ogremon, and Devimon. It's that same damn connection! That's why I could sense the partnership between Ogremon and Tombstone! What did the System call it? Ah, yes. The Shadow Bond. This is some real bull!

The Abomination is undergoing a grotesque transformation, his body twisting and contorting in ways that defy nature. Bones crack, muscles bulge, and shadows writhe around him like living things. I feel like I am watching a train wreck.

He stands, a towering figure wreathed in shadow, its features barely discernible. Bony spikes and grotesque musculature are accentuated by tendrils of black energy that pulse with malevolent light. What was a body is now just a mass of muscle and evil!

His eyes burn with malevolent red light, twin embers of hatred and destruction. They peer into my very soul!

And then he speaks, his voice a distorted chorus of two, sending chills down my spine. "You cannot stop me, Chosen Child!" it roars, the words echoing with a power that shakes the very ground beneath my feet.

My Digi-Goggles are going crazy, numbers and symbols flashing across the lenses in a chaotic mess. But one thing is clear: Hybrid State: Human/Digimon. Power Level: Ultimate, Approaching Mega.

This is bad. This is really, really bad. I don't think we can win this.

Of course, as if things weren't awful enough, the Digivice buzzes, and a new mission pops up. Seriously? Now?

[Urgent Mission: Defeat Abyssal Abomination]

"Well, crap," I mutter. I am starting to get annoyed with this power of mine, I can't even take a break without getting another mission. I look up, and ready to get my butt kicked.

The Hulk, blinded by rage, ignores my warnings and charges headfirst into the fray. "Hulk SMASH!" he bellows, a pathetic war cry against the darkness that has consumed the Abomination. He might as well be charging into a brick wall.

I want to scream at him to stop, to think for a second, but it's too late. The Abyssal Abomination doesn't even flinch. He simply raises a hand, wreathed in shadow, and swats the Hulk aside like an annoying fly. The green behemoth goes flying, crashing through a nearby building with a sickening thud. He lies there, groaning, seriously hurt and unable to get back up easily.

"Damn it!" I shout, clenching my fists. This is going to be a slaughter. I knew that my streak of good luck was going to end.

I know I have to pull out all the stops. "Everyone, listen up!" I shout, my voice barely audible above the din of destruction. "This thing is way stronger than anything we've faced before. We need to work together, or we're all going to die!"

I warn Gatomon, BlackGatomon, Greymon, Garurumon, and MailBirdramon, "It's going to get ugly, people. So steel yourselves and get ready for a beat down!"

Time to buff up. I used the Digi-Modify Cards from my Digivice. "Alright, let's get these Digimon ready to rock!" I say as I get the cards in my hand.

I then summon Unimon, Togemon, and Tankmon using Digi-Memories. I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but I'm desperate for anything that can give us an edge. Please, be strong!

A flash of light erupts as Unimon materializes, a majestic unicorn-pegasus hybrid with white fur, a flowing blonde mane, and a red metallic mask. Next comes Togemon, a walking cactus with bright red boxing gloves that look absurdly out of place in this scene of carnage. And finally, Tankmon lumbers into view, a humanoid Digimon encased in a heavy, tank-like body with cannons mounted on its back. I can only hope they are enough.

[Unimon]

[Level: Champion]

[Unimon is a Mythical Beast Digimon based on mythical creatures of legend, with the wings of Pegasus and the horn of a unicorn. The large wings on its back allow it to travel across the Network in the blink of an eye, while it uses the sharp horn on its forehead to stab foes. A "wild" Unimon is as hot-blooded as any untamed horse, but once trained can come to act as one with its rider. Unimon's special move Holy Shot involves firing an energy bomb from its large mouth.]

[Togemon]

[Level: Champion]

[A Vegetation Digimon resembling a giant cactus. It ability to store nutrient data inside its body allows it to survive for extended periods even in barren desert regions. As is obvious from its facial expression, it's usually impossible to tell what Togemon is thinking, since it spends most days staring blankly into space. But if provoked enough, its demeanor becomes violent and unhinged. Togemon's special move is Needle Spray, by which it hardens the needles on its fists and unleashes a flurry of punches.]

"Alright, people, let's do this!" I yell, trying to sound braver than I feel. "Hit him with everything you've got! No holding back!" I cross my fingers.

Gatomon and BlackGatomon unleash a coordinated strike, their Lightning Paws flashing through the air, streaks of holy and shadow energy converging on our target.

Greymon charges forward, bellowing, mouth glowing as a Nova Blast hurtles towards the Abyssal Abomination.

Garurumon howls, unleashing his Fox Fire, a torrent of blue flames chasing after Greymon's attack. Even MailBirdramon dive-bombs, launching Plasma Cannon shells that explode like miniature suns. I hope these are enough!

From the back lines, Unimon rears up, firing a Holy Shot, while Togemon launches a Needle Spray, a barrage of thorns. Tankmon joins in, firing the Hyper Cannon. All attacks travel towards Abyssal Abomination.

For a moment, I dare to hope. But then, the Abyssal Abomination simply raises a hand, and a wave of dark energy washes over the attacks, neutralizing them completely. He then retaliates, a blast of pure force that obliterates everything in its path.

The surroundings are torn asunder, buildings crumbling, and the very air itself seems to crackle with dark energy. But the worst part is the Digimon.

Unimon, Togemon, and Tankmon are instantly defeated, their fragile Digi-Memory forms unable to withstand the Abyssal Abomination's power. They dissolve into data fragments, leaving only the broken Digi-Memories scattered on the ground.

I stare in horror at the broken Digi-Memories, my stomach twisting into a knot. I knew this was a long shot, but seeing them fall so easily…

"We're going to lose…" I whisper, the words catching in my throat. I can't believe this is happening. How can something be so powerful? How are we supposed to win?

The Abyssal Abomination lets out a guttural laugh, a sound that grates on my very soul. "Is that all you've got, Chosen Child?" he gloats, reveling in our despair. "Such paltry efforts cannot even scratch my surface. Despair, Chosen Child! Let your fear feed my power!"

Despair… he wants us to despair. He wants us to give up. But I can't. I won't. I have to keep fighting, even if it's hopeless.

I rack my brain, desperately searching for any kind of solution, any kind of edge. Then, I remember something, something I've been saving for a last resort, something I hoped I'd never have to use.

The Force Digivolution Necklace.

I hesitate, my hand trembling as I reach into my system storage. I pull out the necklace, feeling the weight of my decision in my palm. I've been saving it for a rainy day, or you know, when facing down with the devil! It's the only thing I got!

This thing is a gamble, a desperate Hail Mary that could either save us or doom us all. But what other choice do I have?

"I have no choice…" I mutter, my voice barely audible.

I turn to Greymon, who stands beside me, his eyes burning with determination despite the odds. "Greymon," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "I need you to trust me. I need you to be strong."

He nods, his gaze unwavering.

"Greymon, Digivolve!" I shout, channeling all my hope, all my desperation into those words.

Greymon roars, a defiant cry against the encroaching darkness. He is enveloped in a data-egg, the familiar cocoon of energy that signals a Digivolution. But something is different this time.

Dark data begins to leak from the egg, tendrils of shadow snaking across its surface. The air crackles with negative energy, and a wave of dread washes over me. I can feel something shifting, something twisting inside that egg, and it's not good.

"Oh no…" I whisper, my heart pounding in my chest. This isn't right. This isn't how it's supposed to be.

The egg grows larger, pulsating with an unholy light. The dark data intensifies, and the air grows heavy with the stench of decay. I can feel the pressure building, the tension reaching a breaking point.

And then, it bursts.

The egg explodes, sending shards of corrupted data flying in all directions. And from the wreckage, a new form emerges, something twisted, something corrupted, something… wrong.

It stands before us, an undead, skeletal Greymon with decaying bones and glowing red eyes that burn with malevolent intent. A missile protrudes from its spine, a weapon of pure destruction. All that is left is bone.

I stare in horror at what has happened, my mind reeling, my heart sinking into my stomach. This isn't Greymon. This isn't the brave, loyal Digimon I've come to know and trust. This is something else entirely.

"No..." I whisper, my voice trembling with disbelief. "No... what have I done?"

Greymon… is gone. All that is left is an empty husk.

He underwent a Dark Evolution.

He's SkullGreymon now.
