"Oh!" Angelica walked up to me with exaggerated surprise, her voice dripping with fake concern. "Did you just lose your servant, and you haven't even gotten the ingredients for preparing the royal meal?" She clicked her tongue dramatically and strutted back to her stand. "I could lend you a few, since I'm such a good friend," she added and pointed toward her table.
That was when I noticed it. Everything on her table was exactly what I had written down on the list for my assistant. The same herbs. The same vegetables. The same oils. The exact same lineup, as if she had simply copied it all and pretended it was her idea.
I inhaled slowly, pressing my fingers together to keep myself from reacting.
I didn't know what to do. Angelica had already stolen my idea and had begun cooking.
