The Rise of the God of Death
Chapter 53: The Monarch's Siege
Outside the blazing volcano, the morning sun shone fiercely. Daimon and the kids stood ready to leave, saying their farewells to Manmand — the man who had helped them more than anyone.
"Come on, kids. Line up!" said Manmand cheerfully.
Lucy stood first in line, holding back her tears as she faced him.
"Uncle Manmand… I'll miss you," she said softly, her voice trembling.
"I'll miss you too…" replied Manmand, patting her shoulder gently.
"Here, take your staff — and take care of it!" he said, handing it to her. Lucy nodded, wiping her eyes before turning away.
"Glasses, come here!" shouted Manmand.
Nil approached, clearly emotional.
"Here, take these elixirs — just in case," said Manmand, handing him two small vials.
"Thank you for everything, Master Manmand!" Nil bowed deeply.
Manmand lifted him up, smiled faintly, and said nothing more. Nil turned and left.
"Blond kid," Manmand called, smirking. "Take that sword and never come back."
"I was going to take it and leave anyway!" Darren shot back, clearly annoyed.
"I hate how I'll miss someone like you," Manmand chuckled, extending his hand.
"Good for you," Darren muttered as he shook it.
The three students left together, leaving Daimon behind.
"Well… they finally left," said Manmand, locking eyes with Daimon.
"Don't try anything funny," Daimon warned coldly.
"The only funny thing I see here is you," Manmand shot back, raising his voice.
"What do you mean?" Daimon frowned.
"This isn't you. Where is the glorious god that everyone feared?!" Manmand roared.
"What happened to the man who killed for fun?!"
"I knew you'd bring that up," Daimon said quietly. "But it's not as simple as you think. I don't even know what changed me…"
"What?" Manmand blinked in confusion.
"I think it's the effect of the seal," Daimon said, lowering his tone. "But it doesn't matter — my goal remains the same."
Without another word, he turned and walked away.
---
Daimon caught up with the others.
They looked at his angry face, confused.
"What happened?" Lucy asked.
"Nothing important," Daimon replied flatly.
They kept walking, finally leaving the volcano's territory. Hours passed as they crossed the barren lands toward their next destination — The Monarch's Siege.
"Monarch's Siege?" Darren asked.
"It's one of the smaller strongholds of Omniverse 7 Base — part of the Divine Sect," Daimon replied.
Darren nodded, pretending to understand.
"And why are we going there?" Nil asked curiously.
"Simple," Daimon said, his tone cold.
The three leaned in, expecting something great.
"To raid them."
"WHAT?!" all three shouted at once.
"That's insane!" yelled Lucy.
"Brutal…" whispered Nil.
"I actually like that idea," muttered Darren, earning two horrified stares.
"It's not just a raid," Daimon said, his voice darkening. "I have too many memories in that place. It's time to erase them all."
The kids fell silent. Even Lucy didn't dare to speak. Darren, however, looked more fired up than ever.
"It's all cool and everything," he said, "but why that base specifically?"
"The ones holding it are called the Monarch's Alliance," Daimon replied.
"Their leader betrayed me once."
"So it's revenge, huh?" Darren asked with a smirk.
"…Yes."
---
They walked for hours until the massive fortress finally appeared in the distance — a sprawling city divided into three layers.
The outermost ring was the defensive wall, packed with soldiers.
The second layer was filled with citizens, the heart of daily life.
And at the center stood their target — the seat of the Monarch's Alliance itself.
Dark clouds loomed above the fortress. Guards patrolled every corner, weapons drawn, as if protecting something vital.
At the gate, a sign read:
> Only those with Omniverse 7 blood may enter.
Nil gulped. "Master Daimon?"
"What?" Daimon responded without looking at him.
"How will you enter? You're… neutral, right?"
"Neutral?" Darren asked.
"Yeah," Nil explained. "It means he doesn't belong to any Omniverse. He was created — not born."
Daimon smirked. "I have my ways. I just need to make sure you three reach the place I want you to."
"When you enter the second section, look for Mally's Bakery," Daimon said calmly.
"Go inside and give him the secret code."
"Okay!" the three said in unison.
"Good luck," Daimon said with a faint smile.
They returned it, and then — they parted ways.
The three entered through the main gate, disappearing into the bustling city.
Meanwhile, Daimon walked alone, deeper into the shadows.

What trials would they face next?
