Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Closed Loop

"Maybe we can think in terms of the number of feathers. Moen, can you control more crows?"

Makarov offered his suggestion. Controlling one crow's feathers wasn't very strong, but what about ten, twenty, or even a hundred?

A sky filled with crow feathers raining down, burying someone under black wings—the control power would certainly be stronger than it is now. Simply covering someone with a single layer is too easy to break.

"I'll need to try controlling more crows."

Moen was still exploring. He didn't know if it would work. Fortunately, these "Black Wing Shaft" were essentially generated by magic power; otherwise, the crows would have become consumable one-time-use items.

"There are plenty of crows. If you can control them all, that would be good."

Makarov shook his head, taking another sip of his drink. Having Moen control all the crows at once was indeed a good idea—out of sight, out of mind, and no need to hear them constantly "cawing."

The three of them chatted and laughed on their way back to Magnolia. By then, it was already very dark. Natsu returned to the boys' dorm, while Moen and Makarov went home. The lights were still on; Laxus was at home, just in his own room.

Hearing Moen and Makarov return, Laxus didn't come out, quietly turning off the light in his room.

"Grandpa, this spellbook."

Entering the house, Moen carefully considered before deciding to show the spellbook to Grandpa Makarov.

If anyone in this world could be said to be Moen's most trusted person, there was no hesitation—it had to be Grandpa Makarov.

Moreover, this spellbook involved extremely dangerous magic. Moen feared he might not handle it well, so he needed someone more authoritative to examine it and further interpret its contents.

"Let me see."

Makarov set down his bottle and took the spellbook.

"This is a spellbook involving time and space. Using the power of this book, you can travel through time to the past."

Moen briefly explained the book's function.

"Don't worry about it. The next time you can use it will be six or seven years from now."

Makarov merely flipped through the book and then threw it back to Moen.

"Six or seven years from now?"

Moen paused, holding the book.

That's really a long time.

Looking at the book in his hands, Moen smiled helplessly. All the mental preparation he had done before, it turned out, had been for nothing. The book couldn't be used right now, so there was nothing for him to guard.

Six or seven years later, the next time it could be used—wouldn't it be Erza and the others using it? What a bizarre closed loop.

"Do we have this book in our guild?"

Moen suddenly thought of this. Where did this book originate? Could it really only be the one in his hands?

"Who knows? Maybe yes, maybe no. Stories of time travel—don't dig too deeply into the details."

Makarov waved his hand, leaving a meaningful remark, then staggered back to his room.

Watching Grandpa Makarov's back, Moen blinked.

So the old man had already noticed the clue too?

Then this book…

Forget it. I'll just put it away for now.

Moen held the spellbook, feeling a great weight lifted from his shoulders.

No matter what, not being able to use it was actually a good thing. He no longer had to constantly worry about the book.

Back in his room, Moen casually placed the spellbook on the shelf.

Time Machine of Memories, with its four-leaf clover on the cover, looked unremarkable and showed no magical fluctuations.

Looking at the bookshelf, Moen nodded in satisfaction. He sat at his desk and began writing feverishly, crafting the story of Folmos.

Moen had long been set on rewriting stories from the original world. He wasn't interested in the magic adventure stories of this world—they were too primitive.

Now Moen was full of confidence. That confidence came from Lucy.

At first, he hadn't been sure if these stories would succeed. After all, this was a different world; it might not suit the local taste. It was normal not to know if people would like it until it was truly published.

Lucy's words were like a shot of encouragement, giving Moen confidence in the story he was writing.

The next morning, Moen woke up early as usual, though slightly exhausted. He had been too excited yesterday and wrote straight into the night, only realizing how late it had become afterward.

However, even after only a short night's sleep, his extremely stable biological clock still woke him up.

At four a.m. in Magnolia, Moen appeared on the streets on time, starting his daily morning training.

After finishing, he returned to the guild hall for breakfast, where it had already grown lively.

Several little ones were clamoring to go to the East Forest. Natsu was the loudest. Yesterday's events seemed to have no effect on him. A single-minded, innocent kid—frightened yesterday, but fully recovered after a sleep.

What surprised Moen, however, was that Natsu still had quite a few scars.

"Go see Grandma Porlyusica. Get these scars taken care of."

Moen said, feeling somewhat responsible. He wanted to proactively help Natsu.

With Grandma Porlyusica's medical skills, this would be easy. They were bound to get minor injuries when going out, but it was rare to see anyone with lasting scars.

"Great! Perfect for a forest adventure!"

Natsu, Gray, and Cana cheered excitedly.

Moen noticed Wendy wasn't in the guild and asked. She had gone out early with Makao on a mission.

Makao's mission was to go to Kroba, and Wendy was accompanying him to check "Cat's Inn," planning to return together after he finished.

Not getting motion sickness, it was easy to go anywhere. Taking a train directly was convenient.

"Let's go, let's go! Forest adventure time!"

Natsu ran ahead, not caring about scars, just wanting to explore the forest with everyone.

Although the East Forest in Magnolia wasn't considered highly dangerous, there were still many magical beasts. Occasionally, the little ones might encounter some.

Fighting magical beasts together, exploring their nests for treasures—this was fun. While there were rarely treasures, anything novel was a gain for the children.
