Chapter 213: The Terrifying Nature of Flabébé

A few days later, the first round of matches concluded. Sapphire lost to Ash without any suspense, but thanks to her efforts, she successfully defeated Ash's Torkoal, Corphish, and Glalie, which was a source of pride. Sapphire's run ended in the Round of 32, while Ruby defeated his opponent and advanced to the Round of 16. If he could continue his run, he would face Ash in the semifinals.

Today was the first match for the Round of 16 to the quarterfinals, and Ryan was undoubtedly the first to appear. Ryan was very excited about this match. Not for any other reason than that Flabébé could finally, without the system's seal, slowly master this Aura of calamity, truly turning it into her own power and no longer harming those around her.

To test Flabébé's second-tier legendary strength, Ryan didn't hesitate to send her into the match. He also silently mourned for his opponent, hoping that his opponent wouldn't be completely overwhelmed by Flabébé's power.

Ryan stepped onto the platform, where a middle-aged man opposite him also stood. Ryan looked at the man and said, "Sorry, this might end quickly."

"Heh, anyone can talk big. Although I'm no match for you, I've checked your stats. Defeating a few of your Pokémon shouldn't be a problem," the man said.

This man was from Twinleaf Town in Sinnoh, named Gardenia, an elite trainer who had traveled for nearly ten years. Her starter Pokémon was Turtwig, now Torterra, and she possessed a Mega Evolution stone, making her quite powerful. Her other ace Pokémon was Roserade, also incredibly strong.

However, compared to Flabébé, she was simply no match.

As the wheel on the big screen spun, Grass Terrain was finally chosen. With the referee's signal, both players sent out their first Pokémon.

Ryan's team sent out Flabébé, while Gardenia's team sent out a Drifblim.

Ryan looked at the Drifblim and murmured, "Drifblim, huh? Then it's basically Tailwind, Destiny Bond, or Memento. And after the Aftermath ability knocks it down, it deals a quarter of the damage to contact moves. Not a big problem."

"Drifblim, Tailwind!" Gardenia decisively activated her status move first, increasing her team's speed.

Flabébé calmly watched as the Drifblim created a strong wind, and waves of calamity-inducing power emanated from Flabébé and spread throughout the Grass Field. Then, Flabébé waved her Eternal Flower, and a huge Moonblast shot towards the Drifblim.

"Shadow Ball!" Gardenia said.

The Drifblim fired a Shadow Ball and tried to counter it, but the shadow energy dissipated before reaching Flabébé's Moonblast. The Moonblast crashed into the Grass Field, causing a huge explosion, and a huge crater appeared before the audience's eyes.

"Whoa. Ryan has never used Flabébé before, I didn't expect it to be so powerful!" Ruby looked at the crater and said in shock.

But something even stranger happened. The Drifblim, attempting to use Phantom Force, opened a dimensional rift behind Flabébé, yet Flabébé didn't even turn around. Before anyone could understand what was happening, the Drifblim fell from the rift, unable to battle.

"Uh... Drifblim is unable to battle! Gardenia, please switch Pokémon!" Even the referee was bewildered.

"What happened?! Drifblim wasn't attacked at all! Why is it unable to battle?!" Gardenia shouted.

Ryan smiled faintly: You know absolutely nothing about the power of Calamity!

"Please, Rhyperior!" Gardenia recalled the Drifblim and sent out her Rhyperior.

However, as soon as the Rhyperior entered the arena, it slipped on two clods of wet soil blasted out by the Moonblast, fell heavily to the ground with a loud thud, and even the audience felt the pain.

"Get up, Rhyperior! Stone Edge!" Gardenia shouted.

The Rhyperior pointed its arms at its opponent, launching many sharp rocks from the holes in its palms towards Flabébé. But Flabébé was surrounded by many dark petals, which eventually formed a petal tornado around her body.

The Stone Edge hit the dark petal tornado, and was directly caught by Flabébé's Petal Blizzard. Then Flabébé directly swung her Eternal Flower, and Petal Blizzard carrying the Stone Edge hit the Rhyperior directly. The Rhyperior had no way to dodge and was instantly knocked out.

"Rhyperior is unable to battle! Gardenia, please switch your Pokémon!" The referee could see the vast difference in skill between the two; Gardenia was being completely outmatched.

Gardenia recalled Rhyperior and sent out her third Pokémon, a Golem. She shouted, "Golem, Rollout!"

Golem immediately curled up and charged at Flabébé. But Flabébé simply waved her Eternal Flower, and a huge Moonblast appeared, colliding directly with Golem. A violent explosion followed, and Golem lay in a crater, unable to battle.

"Golem is unable to battle! Gardenia has lost three Pokémon! Halftime break!"

As the referee's voice faded, Ryan waved to Flabébé. Flabébé excitedly flew to him, and Ryan gently patted her flower, saying, "You did a great job."

Flabébé spun happily, enjoying the praise, and followed Ryan back to the players' lounge.

Meanwhile, Gardenia returned to the lounge with a grim expression, feeling a deep sense of despair. The feeling of being powerless against a formidable opponent, only able to watch helplessly, is truly unbearable.

The break ended, and the second half began.

Gardenia was clearly out of sorts, sending out her remaining three Pokémon: Cherrim, Roserade, and Torterra. But it was all in vain; Ryan, relying on Flabébé, achieved a one-against-six feat, completely shutting out Gardenia.

It was also Gardenia's bad luck to encounter Flabébé, who possessed the Aura of Calamity. Ryan, of course, wanted to see just how strong this Calamity Aura was, so he suppressed Gardenia relentlessly, giving her no chance whatsoever.

Through these six battles, Ryan had vaguely discerned the terrifying nature of this Calamity. First, the opponent's luck was completely gone, and they frequently made mistakes when using moves. In a battle, this is practically fatal; in high-level matches, even a small mistake can unleash a devastating chain reaction!

And these mistakes would be amplified infinitely under Flabébé's Calamity Aura until the opponent was driven to despair!
