this is due to the fact Cain is self taught, he's a commoner with no proper teacher ever. to make it worse, his main weapon is the kusarigama. a weapon never even seen in this world.
this combination makes it so trying to perfect his technique above a sword technique or a spear technique which was built upon for hundreds of years an absurd task, purely relying on him.
before entering, they all put on the same skin tight suites they had used during their physical training class
"i hate this suite more every single time i wear it.."

the only thing to appreciate about it is how good it looks on Delilah, but that's it. its uncomfterble, tight, and far too annoying to put on.

the academy doesn't allow artifacts and weapons from the outside unless their artifact is soulbound like the holy sword or made by said student, like his.
expectedly, Delilah chose the sword, well ten of them.. but still a sword nonetheless,
Murphy chose a great sword as big as his ego, that is to say as tall as him.
he himself chose a spear, specifically a corseque. a type of European polearm from the Renaissance with a three-lobed head featuring a long central spike and two shorter, lateral blades on a 1.8 to 2.5-meter shaft
atleast that's its lore on earth, he wouldn't know much information on it in this world.
sylvia chose a katana, the same weapon she had used in the entrance exam. fitting her well due to its precision and its need of perfect form
'she probably watched anime too, so that's probably the main reason.'
Lucian himself chose a longsword in the same general size as the holy sword
'even though it changes form to best fit its owner'
and Leon had peculiarly chosen a bow, however Cain doesn't have enough knowledge on him yet to comment on him
'if i did say anything though is the fact he had seen me wearing my earbuds, meaning he likely suspects me of being a reincarnator aswell'
not that it really matters though, he's still going to try and beat them weather they know or not.
soon after everyone chose their weapons, they were guided to the library to get a cultivation technique and a martial arts technique
a cultivation technique is how a martial artist expands their aura core, increases their aura's purity and depending on the technique even their aura's trait.
the more you use a cultivation technique the more familiar it becomes with your aura, making it harder to learn a different technique, and is also the reason that while in Echidna's form, he already knows her original cultivation technique.
a martial arts technique on the other hand is more of a combat style, such as your stance, how you thrust your spear and slash your sword, being far more fundamental.
both are ranked from FFF- to SSS+ in rank, Echidna's original cultivation technique, which he suspects to be the cultivation technique of the Maren royal family. was at first an S+ ranked cultivation technique. eventually elevated to the SS+ rank by Echidna herself.
and that's with the fact she had died at an extremely young age, given enough time she could've probably elevated it to the peak of SSS+. sadly she never lived to see it.
'is it just me or have been becoming a little more narcissistic?'
deciding not to dwell on it much, Cain simply searches for a martial arts technique, already having a cultivation technique, the same being true for many other noble's too.
this gives him a head start since most students will be searching for a cultivation technique since it is by far more rare and valuable than a martial arts technique.
after many hours of searching, Cain had narrowed it down to three options.
the first is a B ranked technique, called flowing rivers. like its name focusing on the flow of water, having fluid motions gracefully moving from one to the next. complimenting his control over water both as Cain and echidna
the second is a B+ ranked Technique, its called a tyrants grasp. focusing on relentless attacks and field control. leaving your enemy no room for counter attack, the reason its ranked so low though is due to the fact its incomplete, with a large room for growth. and it perfectly synergizes with his trait
the last is by far the rarest. being A+ called slithering serpent, having many fake outs, counters and faints mixed in, while not as useful for Echidna it maximizes his charm magic and mirror manipulation.
however, he's already planning on making his own technique for his kusarigama from scratch, purely here with the focus on a technique for Echidna, and feeling quite confident in his decision. he chooses a tyrants grasp. since it has the most room for growth and perfectly fits Echidna
since he had already chosen, there isn't anything else to do. thus he imply goes to an isolated training room, transforms into Echidna and begins training.
'i should probably train my water manipulation too..'
getting a cup of water.. he tries to pick the water up to his mouth using water manipulation, but he had accidentally put in far to much force.. ending up with it all over his face instead
"god damnit!"
a fire ignited in her eyes now, Echidna gets another bottle of water.. and another, and another and an extra for good measure
and all of it didn't even get close to doing what he wanted it to do
'haah.. first the mirrors now this.. its gonna suck..!'
-7 HOURS LATER-
filing through the academy files with the headmaster on his lap once more, he finally asks Azazel what has been bugging him since he met the headmaster, pulling him to the side
"could you tell me a bit about the headmaster..?"
"ah.. i was wandering what it was.. its a long story, but in short.."
"there is this cult.. not much is known about them, infact nothing is known about them aside from the fact they worship a forbidden diety."
"and in the past, they had kidnapped the headmaster when she was just 7 years old.. they had apparently tried to make her the vessel for their deity, and while they failed.. they did achieve something non thought possible.."
"they had achieved immortality, well not quite.. but the closest anyone has ever gotten. you see, what happened to the headmaster is that she no longer ages.. not only that but she is terrifyingly talented, the only drawback is that sadly, the headmaster's mind is eternally stuck in the age she had been when she became ever living.. thus she still has the mind of an 8 year old.."
"and like a kid.. she does what she wants and loves anything interesting, along with sweets. also she hates paperwork.. its basically homework for her.."
finally learning what has been bugging him for so long.. he cant help but see her in a new light.. and also desperately want to protect her..
"i see.. thanks Az.. now lets get back to paperwork."
this time, instead of letting the headmaster come to him.. he simply picks up the doll like child, plops a lollypop into her mouth before she complains and starts doing paperwork.. and also pat her head..

hi! today i wanna address one thing right now, the other two will also be addressed in the next chapter
the first thing i wanna address is that for those who have read from before and aren't new readers, the number of students in each class(as in the noble and elite class) will be shrunk to 15 students per instead of 25, making the total amount of students in both classes as 30. the reason for this is that 25 students per class is far too much, both for readers and me. there isn't much to explain.
by the way, this is exactly what i was talking about on how you wanna make atleast 20 chapters before releasing your novel, else you'll make mistakes you might regret, luckily this one wasn't too major, and could still be changed. but the other two mistakes i made? il just have to suck it up and make it work.
also i wanna dieeeee as i said before inkstone sucks, and my dumbass tried writing here for this chapter, at the very end of the chapter though my window accidentally closed, and even though i pressed save 10 times throughout writing the chapter for exactly this, it still made me go all the way back to the first sentence, so yea i rewrote this chapter two times.
