Chapter 85 - GTAG Chapter 85 Deadly Duel

GTAG Chapter 85 Deadly Duel

Godzilla grew impatient with his own speed on two legs and dropped to all fours. Fortunately, he had long since adjusted for this. His forelimbs were thick and strong, not short or frail, so his movement was unhindered. On four limbs, his center of gravity became even more stable.

Blue light rippled along his dorsal fins, spreading to the very base of his tail. In the next instant, an atomic beam surged from the tip of his tail, lancing toward Singular Point Godzilla.

The motion of running threw off his aim, and the beam carved through towers and streets, but accuracy didn't matter. Singular Point Godzilla could not avoid him forever. The attacks never stopped.

Yet this time, despite the wounds seared across its body, Singular Point Godzilla did not cry out. Instead, it began to move.

The steel jungle of the city worked to its advantage. Skyscrapers loomed, many taller than Godzilla himself, shielding its movements. His eyes could not track the crimson giant in the labyrinth of steel and concrete.

But Godzilla had more than eyes. His radar swept the city, and Singular Point Godzilla's presence blazed bright upon it. He could not hide.

No matter how it retreated, the distance between them only shrank. Within minutes—perhaps less—they would collide.

A cruel smile tugged at Godzilla's jaws. If he didn't crush it now, when it was small, he might never get the chance once it grew.

Singular Point Godzilla endured the pain and unleashed its power. At once, the thorn-sea rose again.

Even as Godzilla's rays tore into its body, the scarlet spikes did not vanish. Before, his attacks had only worked because they caught it off guard. Now, driven by fury, it pressed the Red Dust harder. The thorn-sea surged relentlessly toward him.

Crackling lightning exploded from his body, stalling the tide for a moment. But only for a moment.

Shnk!

Scarlet spikes punched into him, too many and too fast to avoid. Agony flared across his entire body, every nerve screaming at once.

"Roooaaar!"

Through sheer force of will, he snapped the thorns around him, tearing himself free. Though sharp, they were brittle. His raw strength cleared a space around him.

Yet his body bristled with impaled spikes. He flexed his colossal muscles, forcing them out. Some flew back into the thorn-sea, smashing others apart. He had to eject them—if the Red Dust inside him hardened again, he would be trapped in his own flesh.

Within seconds of freeing himself, his wounds sealed. Only softened patches of scales marked where the spikes had once been.

He eyed the endless thorn-sea with rare unease. The Red Dust was troublesome—too troublesome. Worse, this was Singular Point Godzilla's domain. Every breath he took was under its influence. Fighting in another's territory gnawed at him.

He made his choice. His maw glowed as his tail swung forward, light gathering at both ends. Two atomic rays erupted at once, blasting open a path ahead. Godzilla charged through, driving straight for his foe.

Elsewhere, human observers cursed their fate. To them, the titans clashing were like gods. They were nothing but collateral. Whether scorched by Godzilla's beams or shredded by the thorn-sea, their lives hung by a thread.

Only Singular Point Godzilla's choice to keep the spikes broad rather than needle-thin spared them immediate death. Even so, their numbers dwindled. Static crackled in their radios as comrades went silent. Their equipment was ruined; escape was impossible.

How could they outrun monsters like these? And how vast was their battlefield? None could say. Some feared the entire island nation might soon be reduced to rubble beneath their struggle.

At first, they had prayed for Godzilla to crush Singular Point Godzilla quickly. The size difference made it seem inevitable. One less monster to face.

Now, they regretted their naivety. The Red Dust was worse than they could have imagined. The devastation Singular Point Godzilla wrought dwarfed even Godzilla's. Most of their dead had fallen not to beams, but to the thorn-sea.

The survivors could do nothing. Under orders, they retreated to underground shelters, powerless but alive—for now.

Around the world, countless eyes watched through satellites. For the first time, two titans of unimaginable size had clashed. And this was no skirmish.

This was a death match.
