"Wow... she's going to love the feeling of gliding," Lupin exclaimed, looking up at Tonks, who was ascending in a straight line.
"... Actually, she won't be gliding this time... Do you remember the compound spell I told you about? Flying plus gravity?" Kayson said, somewhat awkwardly.
"So you mean..."
"Mhm."
"My goodness!" Lupin quickly pulled out his wand and searched for Tonks in the sky.
"Ahem, use this." Kayson patted Lupin's shoulder and handed him a red pearl.
"What is this thing?"
"Just throw it at her."
Lupin took the pearl, levitated it with his wand, and then flung it towards Tonks, who was still ascending.
Whoosh!
The moment the pearl touched Tonks, she plummeted rapidly. Just as she was about to hit the ground, a dense network of spiderwebs suddenly appeared around her, saving her from the tragic fate of becoming 'Tonks-paste.'
"Junior... are you trying to kill your senior?" Tonks struggled out of the spiderwebs, somewhat unfulfilled, and ran a hand through her hair, saying helplessly.
"It was all an accident. Do you want to go see Madam Pomfrey?" Kayson asked, feeling a bit awkward.
"Not yet..." Tonks shook her head, and leaning on Lupin, stood up. "Can we do it again?"
Kayson, looking speechless, opened his magic book and edited the final gravity spell into a gliding one.
Then she flew up again.
"Where's the pearl? Give me the pearl." Lupin was already prepared with the Summoning Charm this time, standing by in full readiness.
"No need this time. This is gliding, not gravity."
Kayson explained briefly.
"Oh... that's good then."
Kayson had no interest in studying these two infatuated individuals further. He took two deep breaths of fresh air and returned to the Castle.
He still had to prepare for tomorrow's class. He wasn't too worried about the Little Wizards other than the third-years making Withering Charms, as even the fourth-years had a year of Alchemy and Runes basics.
Now it was just the third-years; apart from a few talented overachievers, they were all little sprouts with virtually no foundation.
So, for this entire year, other Alchemy courses were taught without distinction, but for the Withering Charm, he focused most of his attention on the third-year Little Wizards.
It wasn't that the Withering Charm was so important, but rather because Hogsmeade would be open to third-years.
He knew these Little Wizards too well. For years, they had been envious of the older Little Wizards acting like big spenders in Hogsmeade. Now that they finally had a chance this year, it would be almost impossible to make them stay obediently in the Castle.
If it were previous years, it would be fine, but this year there were large numbers of Dementors outside. If anything happened, Fudge's father, even if he had married an Acromantula, wouldn't be enough to handle it.
.....
The next day....
"Class, no, don't stand up. I've been looking at the calendar these past few days and noticed that in a few weeks you'll be able to go to Hogsmeade Village, right?" Kayson said, smiling on the podium.
The Little Wizards below subconsciously nodded, feeling a chill at Kayson's eerie smile.
There were different kinds of smiles. The last time Kayson smiled like that, they seemed to have worn glasses for a semester, and Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Lockhart was so persecuted he didn't dare leave his office. The time before that, Quirrell was in the Medical Wing for a semester.
The Little Wizards put their little brains to work, quickly connecting the common thread between these two incidents. Draco raised his hand instantly and asked, "Professor, do you need us to help you assassinate Professor Lupin?"
Kayson's mouth twitched uncontrollably. "Ahem, that's really not necessary. You all should have seen Professor McGonagall's notice, right?"
The Little Wizards all wore expressions as if someone in their family had died, and nodded somewhat helplessly.
"Actually, originally I wanted to add the Patronus Charm. You could choose between the Patronus Charm and the Withering Charm; if you mastered either, you could go to Hogsmeade. But someone told me that the Patronus Charm is, after all, an active skill. To be honest, I also highly doubt whether you'd remember to pick up your wand and cast the spell when you see a Dementor, so... come on, let's take a look at your assignments."
As Kayson spoke, he waved his hand and distributed the Little Wizards' assignments.
Draco spoke again, asking, "Professor, who reminded you?"
"Lupin, why?"
Draco rubbed his nose somewhat helplessly. "So, we can't help you assassinate the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor this year?"
Kayson's voice became somewhat stiff. "Actually, I don't even need your help to assassinate that Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. If I needed to, I'd go myself."
"Alright..." Draco lowered his head somewhat helplessly. Professor Snape's evil plan for him would probably not be completed for now.
Kayson, on the other hand, looked at the dejected reactions of the Little Wizards. Although this mindset might not be ideal for learning, at least judging by their reactions, they truly wouldn't dare to secretly leave the Castle grounds.
This was very good.
"Alright, let's first look at your assignments, and then we'll begin the formal lesson. Those I call out, please stand up and copy today's board writing ten times..."
....
Slowly, the class came to an end. Kayson finally wrote a string of Runes symbols on the blackboard.
"Alright, Little Wizards, learning the Withering Charm has been tiring enough. Now let's learn something refreshing to cleanse our minds."
The Little Wizards stared at the Runes symbol on the blackboard with bloodshot eyes.
"These Runes are very simple. I just need you to take out your wands and use magic to engrave this Runes symbol on your wrists."
Kayson said with a smile.
The Little Wizards all began to practice. It wasn't until Hermione suddenly remembered something: "Professor, what is this Runes for?"
"It definitely has benefits. There's no problem if you write it."
Although Hermione felt something was off, she ultimately wrote the Runes on her wrist.
"Alright, the purpose of this Runes is to ensure your safety. Anyone leaving the Hogwarts grounds without permission will be detected by this Runes and forcibly teleported back to the Castle. Class dismissed now."
After Kayson finished speaking, he quickly left the classroom.
Ah-choo! Ah-choo!
Kayson, who had sneezed twice in a row, rubbed his nose. "One thought, two curses... Hmm, it seems two people are thinking of me."
