Chapter 7 - The Night Of Impossible Homework

Narration:

The whole gang now knew Doramon's secret, but tonight it wasn't about them. Tonight was just Liyan and Doramon — and a mountain-sized problem.

A.k.a. Math Homework.

---

[Scene: Liyan's room, 10:45 PM. Books scattered everywhere. Liyan sits like a defeated warrior, head in his hands.]

Liyan: (groaning) Why does math hate me? What did I ever do to Pythagoras?

Doramon: (calmly sipping milk from a glass) Statistically, you ignored him for three consecutive years.

Liyan: (snapping) Don't bring stats into this! I've got twenty questions and zero brain cells left.

[Doramon tilts his head, then presses a paw-pad. A glowing drawer slides open from thin air.]

Doramon: Don't worry. Time to deploy… The Homework Hero Lens.

Liyan: (squinting) Sounds fancy. What does it do?

Doramon: You wear these glasses, and they highlight the correct steps in any problem.

Liyan: (perking up) So basically cheating?

Doramon: (deadpan) Assistance. We prefer the term "academic emotional support."

[Liyan puts on the glasses, opens a math question. The steps glow in green, guiding him. He solves it in 2 minutes flat.]

Liyan: (jumping up) Brooo! I did it! Me! I'm basically Einstein with a hairstyle!

Doramon: (grinning) Careful. Pride is inversely proportional to accuracy.

---

Narration:

One by one, the problems fell. For the first time in years, Liyan actually felt… capable. But the last question was different. The glasses didn't glow.

Liyan: (confused) Uh… I think your gadget's broken.

Doramon: (checking) No. This one doesn't need the lens. You've got enough to solve it yourself.

Liyan: (gaping) You're kidding. Me? Solo?

Doramon: Exactly. Show me what you've learned.

---

[Liyan bites his lip, stares at the page. After a tense pause, he scribbles furiously. Ten minutes later, he slams the notebook shut.]

Liyan: Done! (then nervously) Probably. Maybe. Okay, definitely maybe.

Doramon: (peeking) Correct. Perfect solution.

Liyan: (eyes widening) I… I actually did it?

Doramon: (smiling) Told you. Sometimes you don't need gadgets. You just need belief.

---

[Liyan sits back, stunned. Then grins, holding up his notebook like a trophy.]

Liyan: This feels better than winning PUBG without camping.

Doramon: (laughing) And way healthier for your GPA.

---

Narration:

The night didn't end with gadgets or glowing screens. It ended with a boy realizing he wasn't hopeless… and a dog from the future wagging his tail proudly.

Liyan: (softly) Thanks, Doramon. Not just for the lens. For… everything.

Doramon: (patting his shoulder with a paw) Get used to it. We've only just started.

[They fist-bump — one hand, one paw. The clock strikes midnight, but for Liyan, it finally feels like a new beginning.]

Narration (closing line):

For the first time, Liyan didn't dread tomorrow. Because tomorrow, he wouldn't face it alone.
