Chapter 36 - Chapter 34

MATHIAS

La reina del caos... ha vuelto al juego.

One month was enough to see how a monster torn to pieces rebuilds itself. Nefertary was back, in her world, in her home. Maybe what I'm about to say sounds crazy, but this place has done her good. Somehow, she's more centered now; she's not the same because she no longer hides her emotions, she doesn't hold them back. Still, that doesn't make her weak. I think she's becoming her best version, even though she still has to learn to cope with Demir's death. I still remember how she was those first days; I could expect impulsive behavior, anger, hatred from her side, but I never thought I'd see such a vulnerable version clinging to life. Thanks to Ragnar and Nyra, she had managed to get out of that deep depressive state she was sinking into. That waning duo of hair, capable of stealing anyone's heart. I remember asking her about the meaning of the nickname.

"—'Waning'!? Like the waning moon? —I asked confused when I heard her talk about them.

—Yes, waning, like the waning moon —she said as if it was nothing.

—Does it have a meaning? —she just stared at me for a few seconds before turning her gaze forward again.

—It means they're an omen, company in solitude, and the legacy of an important death —she was talking about him."

While she tried to climb out of that hole, Steven and I took care of reporting Osoclu's disappearance two days after his death. Notifying their families, who soon arrived in Switzerland. That building had been reported, and 27 bodies were found; some were impossible to identify. It was a total scandal. The news couldn't stop talking about it. The police almost dragged the name Ziegler into it if it weren't for his connections there, thus deflecting the start of the story, as always. 'If you have money and influence, your life is sorted.'

My routine now mirrored Ibagon's. I seemed like her right hand. Sometimes I got lost calculating the next attack, the advantages and disadvantages of it, how to destroy the enemy, how to make them think they hold the reins.

'Did I like my new self?' Maybe I felt comfortable, although it's still too early for a clear answer.

—You know, Mathias, I'd like to be inside your head right now.

That comment made me chuckle a bit. She sits on my lap; I wrap my arms around her waist to rest my chin on her shoulder, planting a quick kiss there.

—Well, I was just thinking about how fucking cute and sexy you look today.

—With the school uniform? —there's some sarcasm in her tone.

—Why should it be any different? Besides, I doubt anything looks bad on you.

—I'd say you're exaggerating, but it's true, everything fits me perfectly.

—That's my girl —I start kissing her neck; she tilts it a little to give me better access—. An egocentric, narcissistic, manipulative girl who drives me crazy —I whisper into her ear before tasting those soft, full lips that make me lose my mind.

—How much time do we have? —she asks, breathless.

—Are you sure? —I want her more than anyone; lately, we haven't had the chance, and I didn't want to pressure her.

—Completely, Mathias —then she starts kissing me, or rather biting my neck, up to my ear where she stops—. I need your touch, your moans... I need you to make me yours, Ludwig.

I can say that among all the whispers we've shared, this is the best. That she needs me just like I need her… at the perfect moment.

I slide one hand under her skirt. I feel her skin shiver under my touch. My fingers pass through the second layer of fabric until they reach, successfully, that sensitive spot where I start giving gentle massages. She soon rests her head on my shoulder.

—Honey, I seriously doubt we're going to school today —I whisper in her ear.

I speed up my movements until I feel her wet enough to slip two fingers inside her. She moans, and that sound is so fucking sexy and tempting I lose control. I go on, this time with more intensity, while my lips claim her neck, biting her skin out of frustration. Our breaths synchronize, fast, desperate.

—Mathias… —she whispers, barely audible—. Mathias…

At that point, I just feel her body start trembling.

—Don't resist…

She looks me straight in the eyes before kissing me. A desperate, clumsy kiss, full of longing and need.

I don't stop moving for a second, until I finally feel her reach orgasm. The room fills with her moans of pleasure. 'Without a doubt, the best melody I've ever heard in my life.'

—Good girl, honey —I whisper as I hear her last breath between gasps—. But… we're not done yet.

My hands move up to her breasts, giving them a firm squeeze. It's not enough. I need more. I start unbuttoning her shirt… or rather, tearing it. Skillfully, I adjust it so she sits facing me, giving me direct access to her breasts. She, of course, helps. She slowly takes off her bra, as if wanting to torture me, to tease me even more. Her eyes shine with mischief and desire.

Finally, I have direct access to those two treasures in front of me. I swallow hard and look at her again. She greets me with a mocking smile on her lips.

—No doubt, there won't be any school for us today —her voice is full of fun and wickedness.

And I can only fully agree with her.

NEFERTARY

Right now, I was lying against his chest. I could hear his calm heartbeat. 'After three hours, who wouldn't?' It was already one in the afternoon. And for the first time in weeks, I can say it doesn't hurt… but I know it won't last, not unless I finish this, unless I can finally choose my own path or simply start a new one. That's why I need to finish what I started, or what they started.

A phone notification caught my attention. I pulled away from him trying not to wake him, grabbed my phone, and looked at the screen.

*He has to come, everything is settled.

That message from Steven shook my whole body. What did he mean by 'everything is settled'? Had he finally discovered who was behind it all, or was it the next meeting with the other partners? 'How I hate it when people don't give context.'

I nudged the guy next to me, but he stayed just as asleep. I rolled my eyes.

—Mathias —I whispered in his ear—, wake up, please.

—Please? Who's the impostor? —he said in that deep voice I love every time he wakes up.

—Dummy, we have to go.

—Now that sounds more like my girl.

He grabbed my chin and kissed me. I didn't resist; my lips followed his with that calm from the beginning of those movements, now more desperate. He moves to get on top of me. I could feel how hard he was against my pelvis and one hand caressing my leg.

—Mathias —I murmured between his lips—. Mathias… —this time I barely pushed him away. Our uncontrolled breathing was the only sound for a few seconds.

—Speak now before I lose control —my eyes opened wider than usual—. 'Since when does he order me around? And why is that so fucking sexy, especially with that husky voice...' He just looked at me with amusement in his eyes—. Nefertary, I'm going to keep going if you don't talk.

—Of course not, idiot —I said, coming out of the trance. He laughed at my reaction—. Seriously, we have to leave for the cabin.

—Isn't that too early? —his face buried in my neck. His lips started sucking my skin, leaving tiny bites.

—Yes, but... —if he keeps this up, I won't be able to stop him—. Steven... —a moan escaped me, 'Fuck' —. Found out something —I shouted desperately. He stopped, then lifted his head to look at me.

—What exactly? —he asked, confused.

—I don't know either, Ludwig. If we stay here, we won't find out either.

—Alright —he said, moving off me—. I'll take a shower. So don't show up, or Steven will have to wait.

That made me smile. It seems ironic that both of us show sides barely known, but only we know they exist.

I sighed, got up from the bed, and looked for a robe, which I found in the closet. After putting it on, I took the chance to find the clothes I'd wear after my shower.

✧────── ༉───✦───༉ ─────✧

Half an hour passed, so Ludwig and I were ready to leave the room and go to the cabin.

—Do you want to stop for some food? —I asked. Neither of us had eaten all day.

—Honestly... I was about to suggest the same —he opened the door and stepped aside to let me pass.

—Alright, anything in particular? —we were already walking down the halls looking for those damn stairs.

—Whatever you want. Literally, if you're the dessert... I wouldn't complain —the fun in his voice was obvious.

—You dummy.

That was all I said. We didn't need more. He took my hand, kissed it, then intertwined our fingers.

—Guys? —that annoying voice caught our attention, making us turn around to look at her—. I thought you were at school, but... wait, weren't you supposed to be there today?

—No, we had to catch up, Nat —I told her with a big "smile." She looked at Ludwig, then at me; her face wore a playful smile, but in her eyes was a hint of "jealousy."

—Oh, okay... I get it, I guess that was more important —her voice still couldn't stay neutral.

—Definitely that was the most important thing —Mathias confirmed. I swear I wish I had a camera right now to record the seconds her mask slipped before she put the act back on.

—Let's go or we'll be late —I told the guy so we could keep moving.

—Late for what? —I rolled my eyes, then glanced at her—. Of course, none of my business.

—Not at all, Nat. We'll keep doing what we haven't finished yet. It doesn't have to stay between four walls, right, Mathias?

He had already grabbed my waist, pulling me to his body and kissing my neck.

—Right, Monster.

Natasha swallowed before nodding, smiling at us, and walking down another hallway. 'Ziegler, you'll never control the game. You can't have something that will always belong to me.'

We kept walking until we reached the exit. We waited a few seconds for the car, then got in while I placed an order to pick up on the way so we could eat something. 'Honestly, I hadn't paid attention to my stomach until now.'

✧────── ༉───✦───༉ ─────✧

When we got to the entrance, Steven was already waiting, his face serious. His gaze showed some impatience. We all entered the cabin and headed to the elevator. Only our breathing was heard, no words exchanged. We went to the main room.

Once there, Mathias sat on one of the sofas while I took the chair by the desk.

—Stop torturing yourself and just spill it already, Steven —I ordered.

—It was always him. All this time, he's been playing us.

That made me open my eyes wide. That asshole's face flashed through my mind.

—Who are we talking about? —the dark-haired guy asked. I told him the name of the filthy rat.

—All this time... all this time he was with us —he said, still processing everything.

—I already suspected it, just didn't have solid proof —I sighed, trying to control my anger—. How did you find out?

—The young... young Demir... —I swear I tried to be strong to not break down at the mention of his name. Apparently, he noticed because he stopped.

—Next —I tried to say naturally, but hell no, it was obvious from Mathias's look. It was more than obvious.

—Apparently, he had been watching him. The day we went to his apartment for the puppies, there were papers in a box that days before what happened he told me he had to pick up.

—Why only now, Steven? —I said, somewhat startled.

—Nefertary, you're not even well. If I had told you... what would be the point?

—It's not just that, young Ludwig. It was only suspicions. During that time I finished the investigation and can assure you he's the person we're hunting.

—Unhappy rat —I whispered to myself.

—There's more —he caught my attention again.

—Speak, Steven —I shouted, unable to control what I was feeling at that moment, realizing I'd stood up at the same time.

—His sister...

I let myself fall into the chair. I didn't need more to connect the dots and laugh, laugh like a crazy lunatic. 'Those two miserable fools... how was I so blind? I seemed like their puppet they pulled at will.' Imagining their mocking faces fueled my hate. How did I react? Laughing nonstop… until I ran out of air and had to stop.

—Anything else to add? —I said, wiping some tears that slipped.

—No, miss.

—What do you want us to do? —Mathias asked me.

'What do I intend to do?' If I let my emotions lead me, I'd be losing. If I'm really in a different version… I should set them aside, think, just like Osoclu would have wanted me to. After all… he was the one who helped me. 'Even if you're not here, I can feel you guiding every step I take.'

—Inform Colonel Makarov that Nefertary Ibagon will bring more chaos to Switzerland so order can keep reigning.

—It will be so. With your permission —he left.

—Nefertary!? —that guy looked at me confused.

—We'll keep playing their game. Let them think they're in control, and when they least expect it... that warm liquid will decorate my room.

I'm a queen. I'm the queen of chaos. I'm the great Nefertary Ibagon. And now that I don't fight blindly... I can have absolute control of the game.

'Demir... I swear I will destroy everything... this time, they won't see me coming.'
