Hotel Room - Downtown Mexico City - 3:00 PM
The room is anonymous. Generic hotel furniture. Beige walls. The kind of place where nobody asks questions.
Jennie is already there when I arrive. She's pacing. Agitated.
"You're late," she says.
"Traffic," I say simply. "What's so urgent?"
Jennie turns to face me and I can see the frustration on her face.
"You're too deep," she says bluntly. "You're supposed to be playing a role but you're acting like you actually love her."
I don't respond. I just watch her.
"Rio, we had a plan," Jennie continues, her voice sharp. "Get close to her. Make her trust you. Get Teodoro's approval for the investment. Then we move forward. But you... you're spending real time with her. You're cooking with her. You're dancing with her."
"That's the plan," I say coldly. "If I don't spend time with her, she won't trust me. If she doesn't trust me, Teodoro won't believe the love is real."
