Too Late for Fairy Tales
The amusement park was a neon dream, but inside the cramped car of the Giant Ferris Wheel, the air was thick with tension. As the wheel groaned upward, the world below became a blur of sparkling lights and distant music.
The High-Altitude Confession
Dona sat opposite Ajax, her eyes glued to her phone screen. She wore a distressed denim jacket over a neon crop top, her hoop earrings catching the moonlight.
"Ok, let's go after... oh... where? Ok, fine... I'll be there," Dona muttered into her phone before hanging up.
Ajax narrowed his eyes, his voice sharp with jealousy. "Who was that? A guy?"
Dona groaned, her irritation flaring. "Why are you questioning me like you're my boyfriend? Even if I had a boyfriend, he wouldn't be this annoying!"
Suddenly, the ride lurched to a halt. Their cart was trapped at the very peak of the wheel, suspended in the dark sky. The bright white lights of the Ferris wheel suddenly flashed with a blinding intensity, illuminating Ajax's serious face.
"Yes," Ajax said, his voice dropping to a deep, low rumble. "I want to be your boyfriend."
Dona froze. The wind whistled through the bars of the cart, but all she could hear was the frantic thumping of her own heart.
"I love you, Dona," he whispered.
Silence stretched for ten agonizing seconds. Dona stared at him, her eyes wide. Then, something snapped. Her face didn't soften; it twisted into a mask of pure fury.
SLAP.
The sound echoed in the quiet night air. Ajax recoiled, his hand flying to his stinging cheek, his eyes full of confusion.
"You took this long to understand my love?" Dona hissed, her voice trembling. "My answer is no."
"What?" Ajax gasped, but the wheel was already moving again.
As soon as they hit the ground, Dona bolted out of the Ferris wheel. Ajax was on her heels, his boots thumping on the boardwalk. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, spinning her around.
"Dona, wait! Why?"
Dona looked at him, her eyes brimming with unshed tears and a cold, serious light. "Because time flies, Ajax. Not everyone is going to sit around waiting for you to make up your mind."
"Dona!" a voice called out from the crowd.
A tall, handsome boy in a leather biker jacket was standing a few yards away. Dona looked at Ajax, her expression unreadable. "I already have a boyfriend. You're too late."
Ajax's grip loosened. His hand fell to his side as he watched Dona walk toward the stranger. She reached out and slipped her hand into the boy's palm. The stranger looked shocked for a split second, but seeing the desperation in Dona's eyes, he squeezed her hand and played along.
Ajax stood frozen, a statue in the middle of the crowded park. He remembered her words from the ride: 'If I have a boyfriend, he won't even ask like this.' A bitter realization hit him—she was lying. She didn't have a boyfriend; she was just trying to hurt him the way he had hurt her by being too late.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out, his face going pale as he read the caller ID.
"I'm on the way," he said into the receiver, his voice devoid of emotion. He turned his back on Dona and the mystery boy, walking toward the dark exit of the park.

Crimson Lips and Lethal Sips
The amusement park hummed with neon energy outside, but inside the Gilded Orchid, the vibe was pure luxury. The restaurant was draped in velvet curtains with golden accents, smelling of expensive truffles and orchids. Gabriella sat in a plush booth, wearing her chic cargo pants and loose top, but her mind was anywhere but on the menu.
The Temperature Rises
Gabriella took a long sip of her juice, trying to cool the fire in her cheeks. She couldn't stop thinking about the sudden kiss Felix had given her at the rides. Beside her, Felix sat with a lazy smirk, his eyes tracing the line of her jaw.
"I know exactly what you're thinking," Felix said, his voice a playful, mocking drawl.
"I'm not," Gabriella snapped, but her cough gave her away.
Felix leaned in closer, his cologne—a mix of cedar and cold rain—filling her senses. "Then tell me, Gabriella... what am I thinking?"
Their eyes locked, the intensity between them thick enough to spark. Gabriella felt her heart hammering against her ribs. In a panic, she pushed his chest. "Stop it."
"Pushing me now?" he asked, his smirk widening.
Suddenly, Gabriella's eyes caught a familiar silhouette passing the restaurant window. Jake. He slowed down, his gaze drifting toward the glass. Panicked, Gabriella reached out and grabbed Felix's collar, pulling him toward her to hide her face behind his shoulder.
Felix froze. His ears turned a bright, hot red, and he swallowed hard. He hadn't expected her to pull him so close.
"Stay still," she whispered, peeking over his shoulder until Jake vanished into the crowd. Why is he here? she thought, her brow furrowing.
As the danger passed, Gabriella realized how close they were. Their faces were inches apart. She felt a wave of hesitation. "Sorry," she breathed, about to let go of his T-shirt.
But Felix wasn't letting go.
His hand shot out, his fingers tangling into the hair at the back of her head, pulling her back toward him. This time, the kiss wasn't a surprise—it was a demand. It was intense, raw, and desperate. Gabriella's resistance melted instantly. She kissed him back, her hands gripping his shirt as he moved his lips slowly to the corners of her mouth, his other hand gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
When they finally broke apart, Gabriella gasped, pulling back and immediately grabbing her juice to avoid eye contact.
"I can't get over that," Felix said, his voice deep and husky. He took a sip of his own drink, never taking his eyes off her. "I really can't."
Gabriella's eyes widened. She began hitting his chest playfully. "You! You're unbelievable!"
1... 2... 3... On the third hit, Felix caught her wrists in one hand and yanked her toward him. "How could I miss even a tiny chance?" he whispered into her ear, his breath tickling her skin. "It's your fault for getting too close. Next time... don't tease me. I won't be so gentle."
Gabriella froze, jaw dropped, her mind a total blank.
The moment was shattered by a shadow. A waiter moved toward their table, ostensibly to clear the leftover plates. But Felix, trained to spot the smallest movements, saw it—a small white pill hidden between the waiter's fingers, positioned right over Gabriella's glass.
Before the pill could drop, Felix bolted. He grabbed the waiter by the throat and slammed his face onto the polished table.
"Felix!" Gabriella gasped, standing up as plates shattered on the floor.
"Who sent you?" Felix roared, his eyes dark with fury. "What were you putting in her drink?"
The waiter groaned, pinned against the wood. Gabriella reached out and snatched a small card sticking out of the man's vest pocket. She looked at it and scoffed.
It was Raina's personal business card.
"She did this," Gabriella whispered, her eyes turning to ice. "Raina tried to drug me."
Felix caught a glimpse of the card, his grip tightening. But the waiter was fast. In the confusion of the crowded restaurant, he twisted out of Felix's grasp and sprinted for the exit.
"Stay here!" Felix yelled, throwing his hair back and dashing after him. He burst through the restaurant doors and into the sea of people near the Ferris wheel, but the man had already vanished into the crowd.
Frustrated, Felix sighed and wiped the sweat from his forehead. He turned back and walked into the restaurant to get Gabriella.
He stopped.
The booth was empty. Her juice glass was shattered on the floor, and her phone was sitting face-down on the table.

The neon lights of the amusement park faded into the background as Gabriella slipped into the shadows of the park's restricted zone. This part of the park was overgrown, the sound of the laughing crowds replaced by the eerie rustle of dry leaves. She was wearing her casual cargo pants and a loose top, but her movements were sharp and feline.
The Secret Gathering
"I was following Ajax," Gabriella whispered to herself, her breath hitching. "Where did he disappear to? And why is Jake here too? Something is seriously wrong." She moved through the darkness, her heart hammering against her ribs, sensing a collision she couldn't stop.

The Confrontation in the Dark
On the far side of the clearing, where the streetlamps were broken and the air felt heavy with old grudges, Jake stood alone. He kept checking his watch, his face pale under the moonlight. "Where is he?" he muttered.
"So, you actually showed up because of a single phone call?" a voice sliced through the silence.
Jake spun around, his eyes widening. "You..."
Ajax stepped out from the shadows. He looked different—colder. His eyes were devoid of the warmth Dona usually saw. "Yes, me," Ajax said, his voice dropping to a lethal chill. "I know the truth, Jake. You're the other member of the Silverstorm group. You're the one who helped Raina kill Kevin."
Jake froze for a second, then his face hardened into a mask of arrogance. "Who told you that? "
Ajax's jaw tightened. "So it is you."
"I don't have time for your foolishness, Ajax," Jake said, turning his back with a dismissive wave. "Find someone else to play hero with."
Ajax's vision went red. The years of training, the loss of Kevin, and the rage of the mission boiled over. He reached into his tactical belt and drew a hidden combat knife, the blade gleaming silver in the dark.
"JAKE!" Ajax roared, rushing forward with a lethal strike aimed straight for Jake's back.
Jake turned at the last second, his eyes widening as the blade lunged toward him. But before the metal could pierce his skin, a blur of motion crashed between them.
THUD.
Ajax slammed on the brakes, his hand shaking. The tip of his knife stopped mere inches away from a stomach—but it wasn't Jake's.
It was Gabriella.
She was panting heavily, her face pale, her hands gripped tightly around the blade of the knife to stop it from going further. Blood began to flow, bright and hot, dripping from her palms onto her white top.
"Gabriella!" Jake whispered, his voice cracking with pure shock.
Ajax stood frozen, his eyes filled with horror. "Gabriella... why? Why would you protect him?"
Gabriella looked Ajax in the eye, her voice weak but steady. "He isn't... he isn't the one, Ajax. You're wrong about him."
Jake's heart melted. Seeing Gabriella bleed for him, seeing her fierce belief in his innocence despite everything, shattered his defenses. He reached out to her, his fingers trembling.
But as one heart melted, another shattered.
Standing behind a thick oak tree a few yards away was Felix. He had seen everything. He had seen the way Gabriella threw herself into danger for Jake. He had seen the look of pure love and protection in her eyes for the man he was supposed to be replacing.
Felix stood like a statue, the moonlight catching the three white streaks in his hair. He didn't rush forward. He didn't scream. He just let out a short, bitter scoff that was drowned out by the wind.
