Though his train was now equipped with chainsaw blades capable of slicing most zombies clean in half — which was definitely stronger than nothing and greatly improved the overall security — Sunny didn't dare to gamble against whatever monster was approaching. It was better to let the train surge forward than wait to be torn open like a can.
Just from the way cars and buses crumbled beneath its weight, Sunny had a rough idea of what he was dealing with — not to mention the two massive shadows beside it. From everything he could see, this creature was certainly dangerous and shouldn't be underestimated.
Standing by his side was Lilith, her face etched with deep concern. If it were just her, Sunny, and Dracula, they might have stood a chance of surviving, but seeing all the innocent lives on board, Lilith was no longer certain.
"What was that?" she managed to ask.
It took Sunny a few seconds to reply since he was focused entirely on keeping the train steady. "Some kind of giant worm," he muttered, eyes narrowing. "But I'm not certain."
He steered the train around a massive roundabout, where gigantic brick pillars stretched endlessly as far as the eye could see.
Hearing Sunny's words, Lilith fell silent. Then, as though provoked by the sudden acceleration of the train, the giant worm let out a shrill, piercing scream that echoed for miles — a scream carrying an eerie, soul-rending force.
People on the train screamed in agony as blood leaked from their ears. Slaves and thugs alike clutched their heads, collapsing. The train was violently knocked off course by the wave of sound.
It slammed into a colossal brick pillar, but even that didn't stop the train for a second. It continued barreling through obstacle after obstacle, massive stones raining down on the carriages and injuring passengers on impact. The whole train shook as chaos erupted inside.
Under Sunny's control, it pressed forward at full speed, but the shock and destruction gave the giant worm enough time to climb onto Carriage 10.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sound of metal scraping metal echoed through the wasteland. The chainsaw blades along the sides sparked uselessly against the worm's armored hide — barely scratching it. Sunny hadn't expected the creature's speed to be this monstrous. It climbed effortlessly, its colossal weight making the roof of Carriage 10 groan and bend.
Sunny watched in horror as the earthworm's movements grew faster and more deliberate, showing an unsettling level of intelligence. He rammed the train into another massive brick wall, trying to shake it off, but the creature clung stubbornly to Carriage 10, refusing to budge.
Fearing that the monster might climb to the front and flip the entire train, Sunny decisively lowered the hydraulic tailgate of the rear carriage. Watching the writhing mass of appendages through the window, he knew one mistake could doom them all.
Sunny wasn't stupid — he knew that not everyone aboard was going to make it out alive.
The sheer weight of the creature began to crush Carriage 10. Cries of children and terrified slaves filled the air as the giant worm dug four of its iron claws into the roof, tearing it open in one smooth motion, revealing the passengers inside.
Screams erupted as despair filled the carriage. The monster's gigantic tongue rolled out, covered in thousands of spinning, saw-like teeth. Summoning their courage, four thugs raised their AK-47s and opened fire — emptying their magazines into the beast.
The bullets did nothing.
Infuriated, the earthworm screeched. Its tongue shot forward, wrapping around everyone in one swift motion before retracting — crushing them instantly. Blood sprayed across the walls and windows, painting Carriage 10 red. Within seconds, silence fell.
Watching the brutal slaughter, anger boiled within Sunny's heart. He slammed his hand on the control panel, pushing the engine to its limits.
"Go help whoever you can!" Sunny shouted.
Lilith nodded and sprinted off, a radiant holy light sword forming in her hand as adrenaline flooded her veins.
"Damn it!" Sunny growled.
Still struggling to stabilize the train, Sunny caught sight of Dracula and another man — one he barely recognized — climbing up to the roof. They charged toward the giant worm with superhuman reflexes and speed.
In the man's hand gleamed the Saker — a weapon Sunny recognized immediately. The stranger darted across the creature's head, stabbing and slashing in precise bursts as the worm howled in agony.
But just as the man raised his weapon to strike a weak point, two shadows erupted from the darkness — so fast they blurred.
In an instant, the man vanished.
Dracula froze, shock turning to fury. His veins bulged as his eyes burned with rage.
"Damn you! Damn fucking you!" he roared, his voice trembling with hatred.
He didn't notice his sword trembling violently, the air around it fracturing like broken glass before snapping back together. As he swung, reality itself seemed to shatter in his wake.
The blade connected — and a torrent of green blood exploded outward, chunks of meat flying from the worm's face as it screamed in fury.
Its eyes turned crimson.
Entering a berserk frenzy, the earthworm lunged forward, its tongue whipping toward Dracula faster than sound. He couldn't dodge in time. The impact launched him across the ruins, his body twisting grotesquely as he slammed into a massive brick wall.
The wall collapsed instantly, burying him beneath tons of rubble.
Sunny's eyes widened. "Dracula!"
He couldn't hold back anymore. He immediately paid 10,000 iron ore, switching the train into Smart Auto-Drive.
His irises flared blood-red as two venom-dripping daggers materialized in his hands.
With an explosion of speed, Sunny dashed toward the monster. His blades flashed — slashing deep into both of the creature's eyes, blinding it completely. Green blood burst out like acid, the worm letting out a deafening, soul-ripping scream.
The backlash sent Sunny flying into a crumbling brick wall, but he pushed himself up almost instantly, blood dripping from his mouth.
He sprinted forward again, but six shadowy tentacles shot from the darkness, lashing toward him faster than bullets.
Seeing his death approach, Sunny twisted midair, changing direction with impossible agility. He hurled both daggers in opposite arcs, releasing a feral roar.
But one of the tentacles still pierced through his right chest, tearing a massive hole. Blood poured freely as unbearable pain shot through his body. He collapsed onto the far end of the train, gasping for air, vision fading, veins bulging under the strain.
"Not good... I'm losing too much blood," he thought weakly. "If this keeps up, I'll die before I can even reach it."
Just then, the earthworm's tail curled up, revealing several long, spined ridges, each over a meter long. They clamped together, stabbing violently at the steel tailgate.
BOOM!
The sheer impact caved the tailgate inward, creating a massive dent as the entire train shuddered. Carriage 9 broke off completely, tumbling backward in a spray of debris and blood.
Sunny gripped the edge of the train, his hands slipping as exhaustion drained his strength.
"Damn it… this thing's too strong… Is this really how I die?" he thought, watching helplessly as the worm's enormous form climbed further ahead.
It sank its teeth into the roof of Carriage 5, the horrifying sound of tearing metal echoing through the night.
Just as all hope seemed lost, a blinding light burst across the wasteland — radiant, divine, stretching for miles.
The worm recoiled, screeching in agony as smoke rose from its body. Other unknown screams of pain echoed from the surrounding darkness, swallowed by the holy brilliance that illuminated the battlefield like dawn breaking through the end of the world.
