Chapter 53 - Silent Prison

Third-person POV

The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of machines. Bright white walls, the faint smell of disinfectant, and the low hum of the air conditioner were the only reminders that life still moved outside. Inside the bed, however, Talia lay still, her body a prisoner she could no longer control. Her eyes were open, wide and restless, darting across the room to take in every small detail. The IV pole by her side, the clear tubes running into her arm, the feeding tube pressed against her lips, and the wires stuck to her chest. She could see. She could hear. But she couldn't speak. She couldn't even lift a finger without pain clawing through her nerves.
