Two weeks later, Silver walked across campus without anyone whispering.
It was strange. Disorienting. For months, she'd felt eyes on her everywhere. Heard her name in hushed conversations. Seen screenshots and speculation on every phone screen she passed.
Now? Nothing.
Students rushed past focused on midterms and spring break plans. The dining hall buzzed with normal chatter. The library was full of people who didn't even glance up when she walked by.
It was like she'd become invisible again.
"Weird, right?" Americus said, falling into step beside her. "The speed at which campus moves on."
"I'm not complaining."
"You should be celebrating. Two weeks ago, you were public enemy number one. Now you're just another student." Americus grinned. "That's what happens when the real villain gets exposed."
Carroway was gone. Actually gone.
