Chapter 219 - Kamijou Touma’s Inquiry

Whether that villa was a Servant's Noble Phantasm or something else did not matter.

Under a beam cannon, all things were equal.

Black Saber Siegfried gripped his sword with both hands and raised it before his chest. The silver-white blade reflected the sunlight, illuminating his face.

"Sword, be filled!"

Click—

The hilt turned. A mechanism engaged. A streak of light flashed across the surface of the azure jewel embedded in the hilt as a portion of the True Ether stored within was drawn out.

Boom—!

Azure magical energy gushed from the guard like water blasted from a high-pressure hose.

The surging mana formed a pillar of light, stirring gusts of wind that swept outward.

"Oh~~" Pink hair fluttered in the breeze as Astolfo let out a surprised sound.

Chiron raised his bow and loosed two arrows.

......

Two minutes earlier…

At the villa's entrance, Li Shuwen and Arash stood on either side, their gazes turning toward the eastern district.

"…That's a dragon's roar."

A hero who had lived during the Age of Gods, Arash was no stranger to dragons. Though true dragons as Phantasmal Species were exceedingly rare, their subspecies were more common—for example, wyverns.

While the strength of dragons and sub-dragons differed vastly, their roars were quite similar.

Having heard sub-dragons many times in life, Arash could identify the distant roar as belonging to a dragon.

"…A dragon?"

Li Shuwen tightened his grip on his spear. A trace of eagerness entered his calm expression.

"I've never fought one before…"

"In truth, sub-dragons are fairly weak. With your strength, you could probably carve through a pack of them with ease," Arash said from experience. "But if you want to defeat a true dragon as a Phantasmal Species…"

He pondered briefly. "It can be called difficult, or simple. The individual combat power of true dragons varies enormously. Some are walking natural disasters, while others can't even defeat lions or tigers…"

Li Shuwen chuckled. He found nothing strange about disparities among dragons. After all, someone once said: sometimes the gap between people is greater than the gap between a person and a pig.

So what problem was there with differences among dragons?

None at all.

"That does sound interesting." Li Shuwen looked eastward. "I hope that dragon is strong."

"..." Arash merely smiled quietly.

Suddenly, both sensed a vast surge of magical energy nearby. Immediately after, an azure pillar of light shot into the sky like a lighthouse in the night—impossible to ignore.

"We have to stop him!"

Realizing at a glance what the Servant intended, Li Shuwen barked and was about to charge when two arrows shot toward him at extreme speed.

His spear flicked, knocking both arrows away.

"Seems there's more than one enemy," Arash said, nocking and firing three more arrows in succession.

As an Archer, Clairvoyance was standard equipment, allowing him to see distant scenery clearly.

At the same time, Li Shuwen dashed toward the enemy with spear in hand.

Yet midway, the arrows were shredded by a wide, half-crescent dusk-colored sword wave.

Facing the incoming slash, Arash remained calm, neither panicking nor dodging, as if saying, Mere sword energy is beneath notice—how could it harm me?

The next second, as the slash neared the villa, a translucent hemispherical energy barrier appeared, covering it.

Boom—!

Under the impact, ripples spread across the barrier's surface, but it showed no sign of breaking.

Instead, the sword energy outside shattered, scattering countless smaller blades of force that sliced roads and severed walls. Gale winds swept up debris and hurled it afar.

"Attacking while people are having breakfast—how rude."

The villa window opened. Mu Yang looked toward the edge of a rooftop across the street.

"Three of them?"

He muttered, then glanced back inside.

Rikka Rikudou held a bowl of porridge in her left hand and a spoon in her right, blowing gently before feeding Jack.

Jack sat in her chair, hands on her thighs, legs swinging, happily eating.

Shiroyasha and Tamamo-no-Mae were absorbed in a drama, staring at the TV screen without moving.

Is it really that good?

His gaze shifted.

Zhang Zhiwei and the Jewel Weng were discussing health preservation—an immortal cultivator and a vampire discussing wellness.

Weren't you two watching cartoons?

Ignoring the two who clearly did not want to fight, Mu Yang looked at Medusa.

Sensing his gaze, she raised her head, tilting it slightly left in confusion. Her cascade of purple hair shimmered faintly in the sunlight with a striking beauty.

After staring at her blindfold for a moment, Mu Yang said, "There are three enemies outside. Go lend a hand."

"Yes, Master."

She nodded lightly, lifting her scythe and striding out, not bumping into any obstacles.

"Still curious," Mu Yang muttered, watching her through the open window. "With her eyes covered, how does Medusa see? Magical perception?"

While he mused, battle erupted among the Servants.

With Mu Yang supplying mana and her class limitations lifted, Medusa's power approached her true Heroic Spirit self.

Stepping outside, she summoned the pure-white Pegasus, mounted it, and charged skyward, black scythe in hand like a female knight.

Soon, Astolfo summoned his hippogriff and engaged her in aerial combat.

Li Shuwen ran along walls to the rooftop, clashing with Siegfried. Under their fierce battle, the building gradually crumbled and collapsed.

Chiron, exchanging arrows with Arash, was at a slight disadvantage—not because Arash's archery surpassed his, but because Chiron had to evade the aftershocks of nearby battles.

Knocking down arrows, monitoring allies, choosing footing—multitasking, yet not losing ground, was already impressive.

......

Amid the ruins—

Li Shuwen's red-tasseled spear whistled with power, each move refined and lethal.

Siegfried defended with his sword, forced back under relentless pressure.

Li Shuwen's Noble Phantasms were sublimations of martial arts honed to the extreme. His skill was evident.

Siegfried's style favored battlefield might—wide, powerful strikes, less finesse.

Thus, against a highly technical opponent, he fell into disadvantage.

One attacked fiercely; one defended and countered.

Buildings collapsed around them—over ninety percent by Siegfried's hand.

He knew to play to strengths: each slash unleashed overwhelming force. But brute force alone proved insufficient.

Neither could win quickly.

The same for the archers, who vanished among high-rises.

Astolfo and Medusa, however, might decide their match sooner.

Astolfo's Master was an average magus; his parameters were ordinary. Medusa's were high across the board, giving her the edge. He endured only through troublesome Noble Phantasms.

If this continued, his defeat was a matter of time.

But battlefields change in an instant.

Ten seconds later, four archers entered, arrows flying.

Chaos increased.

Emiya Shirou and Atalanta had no allies here—shooting anyone.

Two more wildcards. Balance shifted.

Then a column of frigid air surged down the street, leaving frost and plunging temperatures.

"Roar—!"

A dragon's roar echoed. A gold and a white dragon head emerged, each as tall as a building floor.

Karna descended, golden blade in hand, watching cautiously.

Arash landed beside Li Shuwen. "Looks like a powerful dragon. Care to challenge it?"

Li Shuwen thought. "Not now. Another time."

"You really planned to?"

"I'm curious what fighting a dragon feels like."

Meanwhile, Atalanta and Karna stood together. Astolfo and Medusa paused midair. Chiron and Siegfried stood back-to-back.

Siegfried's expression grew strange.

"Those aren't dragons!"

As a dragon slayer, he had special intuition.

"Not dragons?" Chiron asked.

"I don't know what they are. Only that they aren't dragons."

Attention returned to battle.

"…Those two dragons…" Mu Yang narrowed his eyes.

After a standoff, Kamijou Touma ran out from the corner, panting.

"Ha… ha…"

Maintaining Dragon King's Jaw while running kilometers exhausted him.

"As expected." Mu Yang nodded knowingly.

"Master," Emiya Shirou asked Touma, "what now? Keep fighting?"

Touma didn't answer immediately. He scanned the Servants, gaze locking onto the villa.

At the window, a young man waved.

"Boss Mu…" Touma's mouth twitched.

What was Boss Mu doing here?

He… wasn't also in the Holy Grail War, right?

Maybe not…

But maybe yes!

His face twitched.

Sighing, Touma dismissed the gun-headed dragon and formed an ice crystal dragon coiling around him.

"I'm heading to the villa. You keep them busy. Don't die."

He moved toward the villa.

Medusa and the others remained calm, launching renewed attacks.

Battle resumed within seconds.

Karna and Atalanta rushed Shirou.

Compared to Touma, Shirou was the easier target.

Shirou froze briefly—why was he being double-teamed?

Then he ran.

One-versus-two? Impossible.

He dashed into the battlefield, stirring chaos.

Near the villa, Touma dismissed the ice dragon and asked:

"Boss Mu, did you also join the Holy Grail War?"
