Chapter 8 - Entry 6: Foggy Maxwell Turner

After those words, he started walking towards them. Before he left, his exact words were: "Don't move a muscle, just watch the show."

After stepping out into the light, the girl—who still appeared to be on her knees with the Baron's rod already making way to her mouth quickly stood up, As she realized who was approaching

trying to hide her face from him. She put on her glasses and rose from her knees, cleaning herself while avoiding eye contact with Maxwell. She started moving towards my direction, not ready to stay there any longer.

Just as she passed Maxwell, her head lowered, he grabbed her hands and whispered:

"No one is going to blame you for what you did. Humans will say what you did was disgusting and call you names; some might say you aren't even human. But do you know what I think? Sacrificing your pride and dignity for someone else—that's something that makes you more human than anyone I know."

It felt like an hour had passed, but it was just a couple of minutes. I could see the way she looked at him; it was reverence, the look of someone who wanted to cry but just couldn't because she would be mocked. Those eyes were the saddest thing I'd ever seen.

Walking past her, Maxwell stopped just in front of the Baron. He was slightly taller than him, but the Baron looked like he weighed three times his size.

"Hey Maxwell, what the hell do you think you are doing—"

Boom! A direct punch to his face with all the strength he could muster, sending Mael (the Baron) tumbling to the ground, his nose bleeding. Still on the floor, laying down and touching his nose that was still bleeding.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Mael said.

Ignoring him and going further into the dark alley: "You fucks can come out now, or are we going to play these games with ourselves?"

Three shadows stepped out. One looking lean with long hair, wearing glasses too—his face chiseled, his appearance that of a refined butler. The second one to the right side was short, in fact even shorter than me. And the one in the middle, the same height as Maxwell but putting on an earring and a neck tattoo, with his sky-blue eyes. Chewing gum, he spoke, spitting the gum out.

Clap clap clap.

"Maxwell Turner, the infamous son of Carlos Turner."

"Ahhh, seems like you have been doing your research," Maxwell said.

"Yes yes, I knew everything about you. Going around doing good, thinking it will make up for all the bad you did."

I couldn't hear clearly what they said after that, but it was definitely a word. Just a word that he said. I saw Maxwell's face beaming with bloodlust.

"Did I strike a nerve?" he said loudly again. "Get lost! Go play the hero somewhere else."

I saw the girl from earlier just three meters in front of me, also watching the scene, her eyes already red, trying to hold back her tears.

After the kid who appeared to be the mob's boss said that, the rest chuckled. And I saw Maxwell turning back as if leaving. The Baron laughing as Maxwell passed him (he was still on the floor).

Maxwell then stopped at one of the dumpsters, putting his hand in. He took out a metal pipe and turned to face them. The Baron's and the rest of their eyes widened.

But then the voice came again: "What the hell are you doing, Maxwell Turner? Don't be a hero or else..."

Not paying them any attention, he looked at the mob boss while stopping at the side of the Baron, who still appeared to be on the floor.

"Do you know why I kept changing schools?" Holding the bat tighter, and then BAM! Right across the face of the Baron's cheek, blood spurting in different directions. Bam bam, bam again to the cheek of the Baron's, who was screaming in pain before passing out abruptly, the bat stained with blood.

"It's because of what I did to those who threaten me with my secrets." Moving closer to them, panic clearly visible on their faces.

Reality stroke the gang leader, the eyes of the person standing next to him was not one of a student but one who wants nothing more than to put them in the hospital.

Wait Maxwell, don't do this.

"Why? You guys insulted a girl's pride and almost killed a boy who tried to help."

It's too late to beg for mercy is it not ?

"I didn't do anything like that, it was the Baron, why will I—"

As swift as the tension in the air, bam—slam to the boss's face. His nose broken, his skin peeled off.

Standing to his feet again,he tried to throw a punch but was blocked by Maxwell left handbefore he smashed it with the metal pipe in his right hand.

Ahhhhhhh" he screamed

the gang leader hand twisted in an unnatural position.

His two lackeys, who happened to be shocked at what had just happened, tried to beg, saying:

"We didn't have anything to do with this, we are also victims too, he threatened us too."

"Yes, we were just trying to survive," the short one on the right said.

"Really, you were just trying to survive?" Maxwell said.

"Yes yes, you understand us," they replied in fear, heads bent.

"If that's the case, a couple of hits won't kill you. You will still survive, right?"

Bam bam bam. I couldn't watch anymore

Turning my head to the side to remove the scenes from my head,—i have never seen so much blood on the floor.

Scratch that, have never seen someone brutalize another person without flinching an eyelid.

Just the slams of the bat and the repeated screams of the victims could be heard in the alley.

Meanwhile, the girl Maxwell saved earlier

The one with mermaid eyes was watching the scene unfold with a visible smile on her face—she was happy. Why the hell was she happy? I said, shocked and panicked.
