Malena's body trembled. She was starting to feel afraid of Lin Chen's gaze—the calm surface of the lake had been disturbed by thrown stones, and now her mind was similarly unsettled.
She whispered, "Can you just spare me… I'm a nun!"
Lin Chen shook his head slowly. "I don't mind it at all."
Malena's panic grew, her eyes wide with desperation. "You… you don't mind? Fine! Thank you, I'm leaving!"
Lin Chen glanced down at Owen lying on the ground. His face was twisted in resentment, concentrating intensely, communicating silently through telepathy. Far more convenient than Scarlet Witch's spiritual magic, it allowed him to peer into the thoughts of others without physical contact.
"When Angel arrives, I will destroy you! I'll take all your women! Marlene… I'll deal with her along the way!"
Lin Chen rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I really can't keep this guy around. He's still valuable to those so-called Angels. Could he be useful in the future?"
The people from his homeland cast wary glances at Owen. In the process of claiming credit, their conflicts had grown immense.
"Damn, I wanted just a share of the credit, but I was led by Owen and took it all… and it backfired!"
Owen had broken the black pot.
"Look at that! You can even kill me?!"
The natives chuckled and began to leave.
Owen's body chilled for no reason, and he shouted, "If I die, you must… kill me!"
The natives ignored him entirely.
Lin Chen smirked inwardly—this was perfect. The black pot had been prepared for someone to carry!
He transferred his mind to Malena again.
"Daoist priest… this nun's mortal heart… she can't let me live in peace. Her abdominal strength… she's become a giant. Woohoo, it's terrifying… I blush just thinking about it. He's so handsome… how can I resist?"
Lin Chen shook his head. "Seems the nun's heart is all mixed up."
He walked over, grabbed Malena's hand, and pressed a jade pendant into it. "Sister, you're no longer safe. This jade pendant is for beauty and skin care. Keep it close to your body."
Malena's face flushed as she squeezed the pendant. "Did I… accidentally voice what I was thinking?"
She hurriedly ran off, clutching the pendant.
Meanwhile, Lin Chen's team prepared for departure. Iron Man and Cyborg flew off, Batman and The Flash boarded a private jet, Aquaman was ready for an Arctic swim. Lin Chen naturally left with Diana.
The pair stopped at a small town in Eastern Europe, staying overnight and chatting until late.
Lin Chen inhaled the scent of Diana's hair. "I'm going to kill someone."
"That Owen? I can feel his killing intent on you," she said.
"Well, he's valued by the Holy See, and Angel is behind him. I need to take precautions."
Lin Chen chuckled. "You think I gave that jade pendant to the nun just to protect her? It's to track her position. Owen and the others should be nearby."
"I don't trust you!" Diana scolded, bumping him. "Give me the Mother Box, and I'll return it myself!"
Lin Chen smiled. "Wouldn't it be better if we went back to Paradise Island together? The ghosts will follow you anyway. It's impossible to guard against thieves constantly."
Diana, furious, slapped him hard. "Scumbag! Don't think I won't see through your tricks!"
"Who's afraid of whom! The shrew sees everything!"
The next day at noon, Diana left with the Mother Box, traveling alone.
Lin Chen sensed Malena's signal, hid, and quickly caught up.
Vienna, European music capital, five-star hotel
Malena showered and looked out over the city from her bathrobe.
"What is he doing with Wonder Woman? Would I have been happier if I weren't a nun? Forget it… after this, I'll return to Sicily and relax."
In the next room, Owen poured a potion into wine, preparing a desperate attempt to take Malena by force.
"Angel's backing me, and the Holy See won't dare intervene! Lin Chen, people from the motherland… wait. Once I have Angel's power, I'll tear you apart!"
He sent a video message to the Holy See concubine, saying a few words.
"Whoosh!" A heat ray struck him suddenly.
Though blocked by a glowing white cross, he was still injured.
"Heat rays?! Motherland!" Owen screamed. Another ray smashed his phone and pierced his hand.
"Motherlanders, we have no grudges!" he cried, trembling.
Lin Chen flew in through the window. "You have a grudge against him? Seems unrelated to me, right?"
"It's… you! Heat rays too?!"
Lin Chen smiled. "Correct. Since you know my secret, I must silence it."
Owen trembled. "Kill me!"
Lin Chen's eyes glowed red. The heat rays pierced Owen in rhythm; he could not escape. Lin Chen didn't stop, flying out into the night.
Malena rushed in, seeing the open window and Owen struck by the heat rays.
"Motherlander?!"
She urgently contacted the Holy See and called for reinforcements.
The nuns confirmed that Owen shouted about a "native of the motherland" during the video. The Holy See negotiated with Walter to apprehend the murderer.
Meanwhile, the natives of the motherland lamented Owen's fate; he had been bombarded online for taking credit. No witnesses remained, no disputes could arise, and Owen had been killed by heat rays—leaving him trapped.
Sicily, seaside town, Italy
Marlene returned exhausted to the ancestral police villa built from stone. After completing her mission and returning to the Holy See, she too faced accountability for Owen's murder.
In a fit of anger and confusion caused by Lin Chen, she decided to return home and relax. The villa was uninhabited but impeccably clean. Malena had hired staff to tidy it.
She collapsed onto the bed, gazing at the sky.
"Lord, what on earth happened to me?! He's heading home now… so many beauties, I can't even keep track. Damn bastard!"
Kicking off her shoes, she fell asleep.
When she awoke, night had fallen. Wearing a silk black nightgown with suspenders, she rose lazily. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders as she gazed at herself in the mirror.
"With such good looks and figure, I won't be lonely for the rest of my life, right?"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Fireworks exploded outside, casting flashes into her room.
Malena leaned on the windowsill, mesmerized by the dazzling display.
"Who is so romantic? Trying to woo someone?"
The night sky glittered, and for the first time since the chaos, her heart felt a little lighter.
