"Look at those walls," she began, her voice a low, steady rumble of suppressed history. "The city built them up so high to keep the true natives of this land out. It's a cruel irony, isn't it? We are meant to be the heart of this region, yet we were forced to live outside the gates while they claimed our home." Her gaze hardened. "But I am here now. And the lives of the humanimal race change starting this day. I will make sure we get back every inch of our Motherland."
Sid just stood looking at her on the windy veranda, his gaze unwavering.
Evelise spoke again, her voice quiet, steady, and focused entirely on the servant's body Sid occupied.
"It's finished now,"she said, still looking at the darkness outside. "The public fight is over. You did your job perfectly."
