Ellis carefully ducked under the table with a book in hand—Omega Anatomy—and continued reading under the table as he waited for the men to go. If he ran out right now, he would surely be caught in a second. The smartest option was to stay hidden until they gave up and left of their own accord—well, unless they were really going to do a deep search for him in the library, since they knew Ellis was in the library somewhere, thanks to the librarian who had even pointed to his seat.
Hiding in a closed-off corner of the table, Ellis was just getting to the interesting part about scent glands when two knocks came from over his head on the table. Maybe it wasn't the best time for scientific curiosity, but he really wanted to read more.
"Young Master Ellis Montfort, His Grace Duke Alastair requests your presence at the palace."
