Chapter 22 - Fixing Whatever I Can

I slept for what I can only assume was a few days, since it was quite a long time. I was quite exhausted from the beetle encounter that had just happened, so that must have been the reason why it had been that long. I mean, who wouldn't be as exhausted as I am when a raging beetle chases after you for what felt like a few hours?

Remembering that detail, I couldn't help but think of going back to sleep once more. I would feel a whole lot better once I have taken another sleep, but today might be the day when I judge whether or not I will have to leave this place and find another area to live in. That would suck really badly if all the work that I have painstakingly done was erased just like that.

Actually, this feels just a little bit familiar to me. It might have been a deep memory of mine where I have seen or been in a similar situation. Either way, that only made it more hurtful that I have to possibly leave this place.

I wouldn't have to leave if it weren't for once more the fact that this place might just attract some sort of dangerous foe that I wouldn't be able to deal with, even with the weapons that I have made. But it might have been because of the type of weapon that I have used. That might be the reason why my bladed club was not able to harm it, cause it's more of a bladed weapon than a blunt weapon, even if I called it a club.

You know, that oddly reminds me of a certain detail that I sort of remembered as I vaguely recalled that humans used to do that to make these types of bladed clubs...weird...

Still trying to get used to these blurry memories. The longer it gets, the more I start to recall a few bits and pieces, yet they are still fragmented.

Either way, at least now I will have to get up and once more deduce whether or not I will have to leave this place or stay and maybe barricade it/fortify it to the best of my abilities...which I knew for sure would just be a waste of time when something strong attacks me and simply wrecks my hard work.

I should stop trying to make things worse for me. Survey the area first, then think of what to do later on.

I emerge out of my lair only to see what I had already seen yesterday. A bunch of trashed-up trees, rocks, and a few more critters chewing on some leftover pieces of those coconut things. I really can't help but see those things as some sort of catnip for the wildlife here. Any animal, be they a bird, bug, or mammal, seemed to like them. But I don't, so maybe it's just a sort of scarcity among them.

I mean, I have yet to see some of those coconut things around the area I had journeyed on, so maybe that's why they love 'em...But I still hate the fact that all I taste is coconut...At least those spider guts taste a bit great, though. Even some of the urchin guts tasted better than the coconut things.

Another thing that I hate is just how they attract quite a lot of critters. Speaking of which.

I slam both of my pinchers down on the sand, causing an explosion of sand and a bit of dirt to fly up in the air. That makes the critters flee in fright, while some still have bits of coconut things in their hands or paws. Once they were gone, I shoveled some sand back into the crater that I had made with my pinchers. I didn't want this area to be way more devastated than it already is.

Well, at least the only thing that was left to try and fix up was the debris all around me. So I did just that, picking up a few pieces of logs, boulders, and a few carcasses of a few different types of animals. That last part was a bit macabre as I was not expecting some to be wedged in between pieces of logs or underneath some boulders. I didn't eat them, no, I am not some bushman or wildlife survivor who would eat anything that has been either killed or has been left as a dead body on the road. No offense to them, though.

So instead, I just dump bodies out in the seas where I knew for sure that some sort of sea creature would feast upon them like vultures on a carcass. I didn't want to simply throw them away into the forest since that has already caused quite the damage.

As for the logs and boulders. I simply placed them on a neat pile by the side. I might have some use for the still unless I have the right amount, then I might be able to fortify this place...But I might still have to flee the area if that doesn't work.

So yeah, I will just have to try to live in this area still, since I soon realized that if I did leave this area, then I would have to face who knows what, and I don't know if I would be able to fight them off even if I had some weapons. The Beetle from a day ago had already proved to me just how tough they are.

I might have to make a new weapon, one that would be able to somewhat deter some of the creatures long enough for me to either flee or kill them if I am lucky enough. Either way, I'll just have to wait for the time being for when I might stumble upon what I need. But that would just take a few more days, or maybe when I encountered something that has a sharp appendage. Just hope that I won't die in the process of killing it.

Aside from talking to myself, I simply went on and continued cleaning the whole place up.
