Soraya's POV
The tension that had filled Asha's home earlier slowly melted away, replaced by laughter and music. The air outside was warm and alive — children ran barefoot through the dusty path, the older ones danced to the beat of a handmade drum, and for once, the slaves of Silverfang looked free.
I didn't know I could be this happy here.
Asha pulled me into the circle of dancers, and we twirled, our laughter echoing across the small yard. For the first time in a long while, I forgot everything — Ethan, his people, Lila, even the curse counting down to my death. Everything that haunted me faded into the background.
In that moment, everything was perfect.
But perfection never lasted long in Silverfang.
"It's getting late, my lady," Asha said gently after a while. "We should return before we get in trouble."
I sighed. I didn't want the fun to end, but she was right. "Alright," I said with a small smile.
