Ethan's POV
The sound of the door slamming against the wall cracked through the silence like lightning.
Lila stood there, frozen for a heartbeat—eyes glowing an unearthly blue, her breath coming in sharp bursts. And then her gaze fell on Soraya.
Before I could speak, she moved.
Fast.
A blur of fury and claws.
"Lila, don't.. !" I shouted, but she was already on her.
She lunged, pushing Soraya backward onto the bed with a growl that came straight from her wolf. Soraya gasped, struggling beneath her as confusion turned to terror.
I reacted on instinct. My hand shot out, grabbing Lila by the waist and yanking her back before her claws could strike again.
"Enough!" I roared.
But she wasn't listening. Her claws flared, silver and sharp, and before I could restrain her, she slashed across my face.
Pain burned hot and quick, blood spilling down my cheek. The shock of it stole my breath for a second.
"Lila!" I hissed through my teeth, staring at her.
