"Boss, it's me, Pietro."
Mumbling a few words from his swollen lips, Han Yu realized it was Quicksilver. If Han Yu hadn't been familiar with his appearance, vaguely recognizing him through his puffy cheeks, he wouldn't have known who it was.
"Here, take this. It'll be fine after you apply it."
Wanda huffed and tossed a bottle of medicine to Quicksilver. He took it and applied it, and within a minute, the swelling on his face quickly dissipated.
One threw the medicine, the other caught it and applied it. The practiced movements left Han Yu dumbfounded. It seemed Quicksilver hadn't been hit for the first time?
"Sis, you really went all out. I'm your brother, you know," Quicksilver said with a mournful expression, touching his recovered face.
"It's because you're always greedy for money. We've done this mission four times, and haven't earned a cent. It's all because you keep picking up dropped money on the road. I couldn't stand it this time," Wanda huffed.
"Well... I need to eat, right? I'm only ten thousand Au Silver Coins away from buying a medium-sized villa, so I'm a bit anxious."
Quicksilver chuckled sheepishly, quickly grabbing two cans of cola from the fridge and placing them on the table for Wanda and Ultron as an apology.
Neither of them was actually going to hold a grudge over this. Besides, they'd already given Quicksilver a good beating. Continuing to be angry would have been a bit much, considering they were all on the same side. So, they accepted the cola, effectively forgiving him.
"Don't let it happen again," Wanda said.
"Yes, yes!"
Han Yu sat down, turned on a computer, and smiled. "You three seem to be having fun. Is the game finished?"
"Boss, I've finished the work and released it according to your requirements. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive!"
Ultron excitedly opened a website for Han Yu. It was the official GTA website. Judging by the layout, it wasn't too monotonous and had some girly touches. Wanda must have given her opinion during the website's construction; they couldn't afford to miss out on the female player market.
Sometimes the addition of female players would actually attract more male players. Wanda understood this very well. It wasn't even written in the game production plan, purely Wanda's personal opinion, which now seemed very effective.
"What is this?"
Han Yu pointed at the string of numbers at the top of the page. The numbers were still changing. He had some ideas, but he still wanted to hear it from Ultron himself.
Hearing this, Ultron chuckled and said exactly what Han Yu had thought. The enormous numbers made even Han Yu's head ache a little.
"This is the number of players. In just two days, there are nearly fifty million players. The smaller string of numbers below that is the number of players online."
Fifty million players, and nearly ten million online!
According to Han Yu's understanding, the peak online number for GTA in his previous life was only 130,000. Now it had reached ten million, surpassing the GTA5 of his previous life by a huge margin.
Han Yu was still staring at the numbers that kept jumping on the page. The numbers were increasing by hundreds at a time. Both the number of online players and the number of players were increasing.
Almost every few minutes, hundreds of people would be added. This was a very terrifying number.
The game has a top-up system. Weapon skins, outfits, and houses can all be purchased with real-world money. A game of this caliber is bound to foster a sense of competition, with most players likely to spend money on these things.
Even if a player only spends ten dollars a month on cosmetic items and accessories, multiplied by a base of fifty million players, that's a revenue of five hundred million.
And that's just the monthly income. Multiply that by twelve months, and you're looking at six billion dollars in revenue a year.
"You're keeping an eye on the game's operation, right?" Han Yu asked.
The operation of a game like this required careful management, or any mistake could result in a massive loss.
"Don't worry, boss, I'm managing everything well," Ultron said with a laugh.
This feeling of making money while doing nothing was pretty great.
Han Yu looked at the comments on the official website. Surprisingly, they were overwhelmingly positive. With over 999 comments, he couldn't find a single negative review; they were all praising the game.
"High freedom."
"Do whatever you want."
"Do whatever you feel like."
"I'm already divorced from my wife, I plan to focus on playing this game."
Seeing the last comment made Han Yu both laugh and cry. This had nothing to do with him, he hadn't expected his game to affect family harmony.
"Boss, come play a round, I really can't stand this idiot anymore, always greedy for a little bit of money." Ultron said. The idiot he was referring to was Quicksilver, whose operations he was really fed up with.
"Coming right up."
Han Yu chuckled, and immediately opened the game. He had been looking forward to this game for a long time, just waiting to be able to make the whole thing. In his previous life, he was a veteran with thousands of hours. He logged in and entered the game in one go.
"Shall we start with a C-Rank Mission to get our feet wet?"
Ultron asked, explaining that the game was vast, so he'd divided it into five ranks: S, A, B, C, and D, for the players' convenience.
Otherwise, if they got stuck on a difficult mission, it wasn't uncommon to be stuck for three or four days, which could be incredibly frustrating.
Han Yu considered this for a moment and then asked, "What's the highest rank mission you can currently handle?"
Ultron replied, "I can clear A-Rank missions, and Pietro and Wanda can reliably complete C-Rank missions."
Their ranks weren't surprising to Han Yu. The GTA game heavily emphasized teamwork. Sometimes, missions were split into two parts, A and B, where some players would handle part A while others tackled part B.
If one part of the mission failed, they'd have to start over from scratch.
So, even though Ultron had cheat-like abilities, he couldn't overcome bad teammates. If he really used his powers to carry them, what would be the point of the game?
Wanda was quite obedient, but Quicksilver, that rascal, always had some unique ideas that led to game failures.
Originally, failing a single section of a mission meant you could restart just that section. However, Han Yu added a special game feature: Au Silver Coins, named after Ultron and Quicksilver, which could be exchanged for real-world currency at a rate of 100:1.
The easiest D-Rank Missions offered rewards ranging from one thousand to under fifty thousand.
The highest S-Rank Missions, however, could yield tens of millions, even hundreds of millions of Au Silver Coins.
Because of this feature, failing a section of a mission meant starting the entire thing over, significantly increasing the difficulty of the game.
This also made the players very cautious in their actions; they wouldn't rush in recklessly. After all, not everyone could handle the resentment of their teammates.
"Let's start directly with the B-Rank. I'm fine with it."
