{EMY}
I forced a tiny laugh even though emotion clogged my throat. "Fatty Emy from before. Took you long enough to recognize me, huh?"
At that, Eric drew back just enough to look at me—really look at me.
His expression was unreadable at first… then it softened in a way I hadn't seen in more than a year.
A real smile.
A tired smile.
A broken smile.
A relief smile.
The kind of smile someone wears when they've been fighting alone for too long and suddenly find someone they trust standing in front of them.
"You…" He exhaled shakily. "You really came back."
Something in his voice twisted painfully in my chest.
I touched his arm gently. "Of course I did."
And I meant it.
Every word.
All the boys were falling apart. AUREA was hanging by a single thread. And Eric—the one holding that thread—was fraying at the edges too.
If there was one person who needed support right now, it was him.
Even if he didn't ask for it.
