Chapter 84 - Firm Attitude! Hawkeye Arrives!

"Wait!"

Before Anton could speak, Eddie and April came running from the end of the street.

Eddie looked calm and collected.

April, who was being dragged along by his side, was panting heavily, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

"Captain Stacy, the Turtles aren't enemies!"

Eddie couldn't reveal Venom's identity. He had chased after George for a long time and quickly explained, "The Turtles are here to help; they're not Lizard-Man's allies!"

"What?"

George recognized Eddie.

The latter, a self-proclaimed top reporter in New York and now the famous editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, George knew him well.

George's tone was full of doubt: "You're saying those guys are Batman's helpers?"

He thought so because, in his eyes, the four Turtles were the same as the Lizard-Man.

This was also his biggest reason for suspecting the Turtles were in league with the Lizard-Man.

If everyone present had animal-related nicknames, why wasn't he suspicious of Spider-Man or Batman?

After all, although Batman, Spider-Man, the Turtles, and the Lizard-Man were all related to animals, George believed the Turtles were actual turtle-people, just like Curt Connors turned into the Lizard-Man. Spider-Man and Batman, on the other hand, were just humans wearing animal-themed costumes.

"Ask Batman yourself, you'll know!"

Eddie couldn't explain too much to George, but he knew Batman would clear up the confusion for him and the Turtles.

"Yes, they're the helpers I called," Anton confirmed. He glanced at the defeated Green Goblin and shrugged. "Although, they arrived a little late."

"Alright."

George was finally relieved.

After this battle, his trust in Batman reached an unimaginable level.

Because he knew that if it weren't for Batman turning the tide during the Lizard-Man incident and this Green Goblin incident, the entire New York would have faced a crisis.

Not only the citizens of New York, but also the New York Police Department owed Batman a debt of gratitude.

"What about Green Goblin…"

George chuckled, rubbing his hands together. It was time for the New York Police Department to get some glory.

"I'm sorry, but I have to take the Green Goblin."

Anton's response caught George completely off guard.

George immediately felt uneasy.

This time seemed different. Batman had a different plan.

"He'll be more useful in my hands."

As he spoke, the Batmobile, which had been automatically driven there after the fight on Anton's orders, flew overhead.

Everyone saw that a Lizard-Man, unable to move and already whittled down to a "stick," was hanging from the Batmobile's rear.

Of course, the Lizard-Man had already grown partial limbs at this point, making him look terrifying.

"Lizard-Man!"

Captain Stacy saw the creature and felt he finally understood why Batman didn't want to hand over the Green Goblin and the Lizard-Man to the NYPD.

Even if they were given them, they couldn't be kept safe.

"Damn it!"

George felt inexplicably frustrated, but couldn't find a reason to persuade Batman to leave the Green Goblin to the NYPD.

"In that case, I'll be going!"

Anton entered the Batmobile and soared into the sky.

Before leaving, he glanced at Spider-Man, who understood and shot out webbing to enter the Osborn Building and retrieve the Lizard-Man's antidote.

Seeing this, the Turtles felt like their trip was pointless. They exchanged glances and then scurried into the Sewers, disappearing before George and the others.

Eddie didn't rush to follow the Turtles back to their Dojo in the Sewers.

He and April stayed behind to record the aftermath of the Green Goblin incident and the cleanup efforts of the New York City Police Department.

This was a hot topic!

At the same time, Eddie called his apprentice, Phil, and told him to quickly bring the professional equipment from the Daily Bugle to report on the aftermath of the Green Goblin incident in Manhattan.

A moment later.

Anton and Spider-Man met on the initial rooftop.

"Inject him," Anton nodded to Spider-Man, looking at the Lizard-Man who was still tied to the Batmobile, his limbs already half-grown.

"No, Spider-Man!"

The Lizard-Man was filled with fear and resistance. He refused to turn back into that pathetic cripple.

"Professor! This is for your own good!"

Spider-Man was also helpless. Looking at the Lizard-Man, whose eyes were still filled with animality and hatred, he gritted his teeth and injected him with the antidote.

Soon, the Lizard-Man turned back into Connors.

This time, Connors had returned to his original state with his right arm missing, not becoming a human stick as Anton had imagined.

It was probably related to the fact that his limbs had almost fully grown when he was in his Lizard-Man state.

Spider-Man breathed a sigh of relief.

At this moment.

A helicopter quickly arrived at the rooftop where Anton and the others were.

They both looked up.

A figure with a bow and arrow on his back quickly slid down to the rooftop using the rope lowered from the helicopter.

Hawkeye!

Because of his distinctive features, Anton recognized the person at a glance.

At times like this, the only man who would be carrying a bow and arrow around was probably Hawkeye.

"Batman, Spider-Man!"

Hawkeye didn't look surprised to see the two on the rooftop.

Before rushing over, he'd already learned about the Green Goblin incident in Manhattan, New York, through the news.

He hurried over, intending to help, but now it seemed he was too late!

The Green Goblin incident was over!

His thoughts raced as he glanced at the unconscious Green Goblin and Curt Connors, who had returned to his normal form.

"My name is Clint Barton, you can call me Hawkeye."

Hawkeye quickly introduced himself, nodding at Batman. "Leave them to me."

"Take Connors yourself," Anton said, understanding Hawkeye's words. He spoke with a calm finality, "Green Goblin can't be handed over to you."

"No way!"

Hawkeye's tone was firm, showing no sign of backing down in the face of Batman's decisiveness.

Although he hadn't communicated with Coulson, as a senior agent, he had the authority to make decisions.

In Hawkeye's view, both Lizard-Man, Curt Connors, and Green Goblin should be under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s custody.

"Hawkeye, I'm not a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Strictly speaking, we're only in a cooperative relationship, and it's S.H.I.E.L.D. that's asking for my cooperation. You have no right to order me around."

Anton frowned, staring coldly at Hawkeye.

Then, the two fell silent, and the atmosphere grew tense, the air thickening.

Spider-Man looked from side to side, sensing the situation was turning sour.

Anton's refusal of Hawkeye was partly because the Green Goblin incident hadn't yet occurred when he contacted Coulson, and they had no prior agreement regarding the Goblin.

Previously, handing Connors over to S.H.I.E.L.D. was purely because Anton was too lazy to deal with the aftermath.

In a way, wasn't S.H.I.E.L.D. an organization specifically for "waste recycling" and cleanup?

That very Hell, discussed with Coulson and established overseas during the Kingpin incident, was a "garbage recycling station" managed by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Secondly, the Green Goblin's emotions were still unstable.

Moreover, Norman Osborn had a connection with him, and Harry was even an investor in his movie and a little fan of Batman. Out of sympathy for the Osborn family's hereditary illness, Anton, from a friend's perspective, intended to try and cure Norman's mental and hereditary diseases.

Once he's cured, or if it proves impossible, then he would consider how to deal with the mistakes Norman made as the Green Goblin.

At that point, handing Norman over to S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't be out of the question.

As for how to cure the genetic disease, Anton already had a preliminary idea in mind.

Honestly, if it wasn't Hawkeye who had come, but Coulson instead, and they could have a friendly conversation, things could still be discussed.

But Hawkeye's tough attitude at this moment made Anton extremely unhappy.

"If you still insist on taking the Green Goblin away, then you don't need to worry about Connors either, I'll handle him myself."

Anton stared at Hawkeye, a sneer curling at the corner of his mouth.

"You'll regret this."

Hawkeye took a deep look at Batman, then took down the bow and arrow from his back, intending to use force.
