Chapter 143 - Espers Appear

Most people probably don't understand the power of a punch from a Ghost Spider.

Simply put, it's like getting hit by a runaway car.

"Cough, cough, cough!" Meng Ran was also caught off guard by Gwen's sudden punch, and he coughed repeatedly.

Even though this punch wouldn't hurt him at all, given his physique, he still had to act the part.

"Oh, darling, you've shattered my heart~" Meng Ran wailed dramatically to Gwen, feigning pain.

Gwen just rolled her eyes at Meng Ran's words. She wasn't an idiot; she knew his physique.

Her punch was just a love tap. After all, he could go all night, cough cough!

Gwen didn't know why she suddenly thought of that, and in her embarrassment, she blamed Meng Ran.

"Hmph! It's all your fault, you rascal. You've been tormenting me these past few days," Gwen said angrily to Meng Ran, then punched him again.

Meng Ran understood why he'd been punched the first time, but this second punch left him utterly bewildered.

He didn't even know what was going on, and he'd taken another hit. But what could he do when faced with an unreasonable girlfriend?

He could only obediently admit his mistake and try to coax her. Even if he didn't necessarily know what he'd done wrong, he shouldn't think too much about it; just admit it and be done with it. (This is a truth you must remember in the future.)

In the penthouse room, Meng Ran and Gwen were playfully brawling.

Downstairs, the beautiful masseuse was also "brawling" with Ans, with moves like "Dragon Entering the Sea" and "Mount Tai Crushing the Summit."

The "brawling" lasted for half an hour. After half an hour, Ans finally… finished, and then, with the masseuse's help, put on his clothes.

Meng Ran, sensing this upstairs, also quickly stopped playing around with Gwen and prepared to follow Ans, to see where he would go.

When Ans was dressed, another black-suited bodyguard entered, pushing a food cart and placing the prepared delicacies on the table.

Ans saw this and sat at the table, opening his mouth wide and devouring the food.

Judging by his wild eating, one would think he hadn't eaten in ages, lacking even a hint of the elegance and refinement one would expect from someone of his status.

Under Ans's ravenous consumption, several dishes quickly disappeared into his stomach.

After finishing, he belched, wiped his mouth, and lit a cigar, puffing smoke.

After taking a few puffs of the cigar, Ans instructed the bodyguard behind him to hold his coat, and they all walked out of the room, entering the elevator and heading to the casino downstairs.

"It seems he's planning to have some fun," Meng Ran sensed this and walked out of the room with Gwen, entering the elevator and heading towards the casino.

At this time, Gwen and Meng Ran had also made some simple disguises, making them appear older and more mature.

They arrived at the casino around the same time as Ans. When they entered, Ans had already found a table and sat down.

Meng Ran and Gwen didn't join Ans. Instead, they found a slot machine nearby and played while keeping an eye on him.

Since the 100,000 chips from the afternoon were gone, Meng Ran was now playing with chips he had bought with his own money, totaling 50,000 USD.

Ans was playing Texas Hold'em, a game that heavily tested one's psychological fortitude. Winning at this game wasn't just about having the best hand; it was also about outmaneuvering your opponents mentally.

Sometimes, even with a strong hand, you wouldn't win. Conversely, you wouldn't necessarily lose even with a bad hand.

Ans's poker skills seemed quite good. He had already won several rounds, and the stacks of chips in front of him were growing.

There were five players at the table, and two of them had already lost all their chips.

They dejectedly tossed their hands onto the table, muttering curses under their breath, and then left the table.

Ans didn't say anything when he saw this, just happily chuckled a few times. He was having a good day; he'd been dealt good hands in almost every round.

With two people gone, there were now only three players left at the table, including Ans.

Just as the dealer was asking the remaining players if they wanted to start a three-person game, two men suddenly appeared and sat down in the two empty seats.

"If you don't mind, I'll join in," said a curly-haired man with a beard.

The other young man, who looked to be in his early twenties, didn't say anything, just smiled shyly at the other three. But it was clear he also wanted to join the game.

The other two, including Ans, didn't object. Ans just smiled and nodded, signaling for the dealer to deal the cards.

"Looks like our target has finally shown up," Meng Ran said softly to Gwen, looking at the two men who had suddenly joined the game.

Gwen nodded when she heard Meng Ran, then observed the two men at the table out of the corner of her eye.

In Meng Ran's perception, the two men sat amidst a crowd of ordinary people, as conspicuous as two short, unattractive guys among a group of handsome men and beautiful women.

Even though they were only C-Ranked Espers, they couldn't escape Meng Ran's sharp senses.

After confirming their targets, Meng Ran and Gwen both tapped their watches.

The exquisite watch faces on their wrists suddenly popped open, and several miniature mechanical flying devices emerged.

These were all developed by Meng Ran, Peter, and Harry. There were many other interesting little inventions that hadn't been put to use yet.

These miniature mechanical flying devices were smaller than flies, and they flew silently, completely undetectable.

They came equipped with signal transmitters that could emit various frequencies, including a specific signal unique to the Hexagram Alliance.

This signal was the same one Liu Xiu had used to call for help. It was very stable, and even if radio waves were blocked, it wouldn't affect its use.

After the miniature flying devices had flown out, Meng Ran and Gwen's watches returned to normal.

The devices swept across the casino's ceiling and quickly flew towards the two Blackwater Espers.

After reaching them, the devices automatically disassembled, leaving only a tiny signal transmitter on each of them.

Since there were several devices, signal transmitters were left on their coats, pants, shoes, and even underwear.

Once the signal transmitters were fixed on the two, Meng Ran tapped his earpiece and reported to Mary Jane.

"Red Rose, the signal transmitters have been fixed on the targets."

After Meng Ran spoke, Mary Jane's voice came through his earpiece: "Received. Signal reception is good."

"Okay, that's done," Meng Ran thought, turning to exchange glances with Gwen.

But when Meng Ran turned his head, he realized Gwen wasn't looking at him. Instead, her eyes were fixed on the gambling game over there.
