Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Taro: Not Necessarily!

[In the name of the God from another world!]

[Heretics shall be judged.]

[The brave shall be honored.]

[The fearless shall be redeemed.]

Words spoken, law follows.

The will of the Supreme God governs the three purgatories of Paradise.

In Paradise, the Supreme is heaven.

His will is truth.

Before the bewildered eyes of all present,

the bizarre space that had endured for five centuries dissolved at its core.

The Abyssal power vanished instantly.

Corrupted souls swiftly returned to clarity.

A heroic figure emerged from the chaos.

The Supreme's will had been declared.

Every soul turned toward the one seated foremost.

The spirits of the Millelith, spears in hand, formed ranks.

One voice, one salute:

"Thanks to our benefactor!"

"Thanks to our benefactor!"

"Rock-solid as the Millelith, immovable as the mountains!"

"Shield of a thousand cities, suppressor of demons and evil!"

"Liyue's adepts thank our benefactor!"

Their voices thundered through the space.

They all knew it.

They should have been swallowed forever.

Instead, they were saved by this benefactor.

The crimson mists dissolved like snow under spring sun.

The warped souls slowly cleared.

"Big brother!" x2

The joyous cries of Yingda and Fan'nan rang out.

They flew forward, landing before Fushir.

"Yingda? Fan'nan?"

Fushir's eyes widened in shock.

He reached for them—

but as a soul, his hands passed through.

"Ah…"

"Almost forgot I was already dead."

He scratched his head, embarrassed.

Then his eyes lit with joy.

If he couldn't touch them…

that meant his sisters were still alive.

For an elder brother, news of siblings' deaths was shattering.

But to see them alive—

that alone was enough.

"Fan'nan, Yingda… our younger brothers, they still live?

What of Liyue?

What of the Emperor?

And…"

So many questions poured out at once.

"Big brother, the younger ones are fine."

Yingda's tears fell as she laughed.

"The Emperor too.

I, third sister, and second brother have all returned.

Even Guizhong-onee-sama is back.

Among the five of us siblings, only you remain."

"Yes, Fushir-nii."

Fan'nan smiled.

"It was Sensei who revived us.

The Emperor knows as well."

"Ah…"

Fushir froze, dazed.

Revived?

Did it mean what he thought it did?

Two Yaksha, one soul, reunited.

No one else intruded on the moment.

Elsewhere—

"This immortal…"

"I am Baiyang, adeptus of Liyue."

"I am Zhicheng, centurion of the Millelith."

"May we ask, immortal, what of us?"

From among the adepts and soldiers, two men stepped forth.

Their faces bore awe and longing.

"I am no immortal," Taro said with a smile, raising three fingers.

"But I can give you three choices."

"First—resurrection. As you heard, I can return the dead to life.

As one of Liyue's Seven Stars, you would stand at its helm once more."

"Second—I know a secret method to preserve your souls as heroic spirits.

You would remain as guardians of Liyue's fate, basking in incense,

protecting its people."

"Third—dust to dust, return to the cycle.

Reincarnate and begin anew."

"Five centuries have passed since your fall.

How you choose is yours alone."

He smiled gently.

"They are heroes. I will not impose my will.

Resurrection, guardianship, or reincarnation—

the choice is yours."

Baiyang and Zhicheng looked at each other, stunned.

"Please allow us a moment."

"Go ahead." Taro nodded.

His manifestation of Paradise would last as long as he willed it.

Time was not an issue.

"Boss, impressive."

Huoliya gave a thumbs-up.

"But… which option do you think they'll choose?"

"Hm?"

Taro arched a brow. "Why ask?"

"Humans are peculiar," Huoliya said softly, gazing at the Millelith.

"I once sheltered humans… Liyueans."

She laughed faintly.

"They're complicated. Beautiful, cruel, just, wicked—

all at once."

Her smile turned wry.

"In my eyes, most would pick the first choice. Resurrection."

Taro shook his head.

"Not necessarily.

For some, death is not terrifying.

These here—adepts, Millelith.

They have faith.

Faith strong enough to overcome all."

Huoliya blinked.

"The second choice then? To remain as heroic spirits?"

"Mm."

He didn't elaborate.

Humans often defied expectation.

Just then, Baiyang and Zhicheng returned.

They saluted deeply.

Thunk, thunk.

Their spears struck the ground.

A loud chorus rose again:

"Rock-solid as the Millelith, immovable as the mountains!"

"Shield of a thousand cities, suppressor of demons and evil!"

"Benefactor, permit us—

we, all of us, choose to remain as heroic spirits, to guard our Liyue!"
