Chapter 3 - Nerve Wracking

This novel has depictions of SA, bullying, and LBTQIA+ representations.

Elijah sat back down and took out his book, his hands were still shaking from what had happened, was his teacher even allowed to disclose that information? Whatever, right now he had to act normal and get through this class.

"Excuse me, sir?"

Mr. Wright sighed, put down the whiteboard marker and looked at Damian, the annoyance was visible on his face.

"Yes, Damian?"

"So, y'know how the books were given to us? So basically like..someone I think like ripped the introduction part out?"

Mr.Wright was slightly confused. He walked over to Damian's desk and took the book.

He felt a little dumbfounded when he saw that it actually was ripped out.

"Just..share the book with Elijah."

"Okay!"

Damian brought his chair in closer to Elijah. Elijah would be lying if he said that the feeling of his mere presence wasn't enough to bring a shiver down his spine.

"Okay, why don't you read the first paragraph, Samuel?"

Samuel, who wasn't really paying attention snapped up, "Sorry?"

"..The first paragraph, Mr.Samuel."

"Ah! Sorry, ahem," Samuel cleared his throat, and confidently read the paragraph aloud.

Mr. Wright interrupted the boy after the second sentence, and said, "In my old school, there was a public speaking club, I wonder if there is one here. If there is, you should join it Samuel."

Samuel was a bit astounded at the comment, but replied anyway.

"There actually is a public speaking club sir, my friend is in it, I'll ask him about it, thank you."

He continued on and when he finished Mr. Wright picked out a different student, and after each paragraph he explained the meaning, the message, and how they could use that in class and when writing an assignment.

"Now before the bell rings, I want all of you to write a short essay on what this means to you and how you originally thought it meant."

The second period went by in a blur, Elijah didn't exactly like his teacher because he started giving out to him on the first day.

Unlike Elijah and Esther's previous school, there was a break every two classes. They thought it was probably to even out the weight distribution from their books.

"Elijah, Esther!" It was James, running to them with the biggest smile on his face. After meeting him, Elijah found that he was a very optimistic person, his optimism knew no bounds.

"This is Mateo and Deirdre."

Mateo was a tall boy, and a quite fashionable one too, well according to Daniel anyway. He was wearing a red shirt, and dark jeans, with it were some silver chains on his neck and his belt.

He really is fashionable, maybe I'll take some clothing advice from him.

Deirdre on the other hand was an average height, she had bright ginget hair and around Esther's height. She was wearing dark blue flared jeans with a fitted red hoodie.

Deirdre's voice was soft and gentle when she spoke, "Hi, I heard your names are Elijah and Esther, is that right?"

Elijah froze for a moment, but replied back that their names were infact Elijah and Esther.

"Deirdre, you're so pretty! What the hell you might as well have been blessed by Aphrodite herself."

Deirdre chuckled out of embarrassment, "Thank you, but you're so cute, I'd genuinely die to look like you!"

James swiftly stopped the two's conversation, "Enough with the compliments, you're both pretty and if I know anything, it's that you'll never stop complimenting each other."

"We should get our books and go to our classes like good students!"

Samuel chuckled, "Shocking coming from you, didn't you get suspended for getting into a fight?"

James looked at Samuel with a deadly glare, it even creeped Elijah out.

Elijah softly spoke out, "Er..Is anyone in room.. 310?"

"Oh damn. I'm pretty sure that Mary is in your class. That's the art room, right?"

Elijah glanced at his timetable, "Yeah."

As if they were telepathically connected, almost everyone, except Elijah and Esther, winced.

Honestly, the boy was a bit baffled. Whats wrong with the art room?

Esther asked what was wrong with the art class, and according to Deirdre the art class was normal, it was Mary who was the problem.

They all loved her as they were friends but they knew how she could get a bit overboard with others.

Elijah just shrugged it off, he'd see for himself how Mary was.
