Derek's jaw clenched so hard a muscle twitched. He was seconds away from exploding.
He glared at Bailey, sprawled across the bonnet, sobbing as if her world had ended. He hated theatrics and the attention she was attracting. But most of all, he hated being cornered.
"Fine," he muttered through gritted teeth.
"Get her off the damn car."
Raymond hurried out of the car and coaxed Bailey to come down while assuring her that Derek was ready to listen. He guided her towards the rare seat and closed the door before retaking the driver's seat.
As the car pulled out of the parking lot, Bailey began talking, her voice shaky, but steadying as she spoke.
She turned her nightmare into her favour, claiming to be the victim of her ex-lover, who wanted Ruby's money, and Kai Treshvire, who had her kidnapped and tortured for allegedly setting Ruby up.
Derek didn't bother asking about the setup or whatever Ruby got entangled in, which led to Kai's fury.
