Ruby was temporarily rendered speechless by Derek's words. She was expecting him to feel a slight remorse for his crime.
But flipping the whole scene and pushing the blame to her was not only low but face-slapping.
However, he didn't stop there.
"If I erased that footage...." Derek continued, his stoned gaze devoid of empathy or remorse. "...it was to cover up for you...and to protect your family's tarnished image. I was simply doing you a favour, and the least I expected from you is a thank you."
"Thank you?!" Ruby flared up, her face scrunched.
"You are welcome," Derek replied proudly, undermining her fury and authority.
"How dare you, Derek?" Jeremiah stepped forward, his eyes blazing with fury, but Derek instantly silenced him.
