"No… no… no…" Elena muttered, her brows pinching together as she frantically scrolled through her gallery. "Where is it?" Her palm smacked the car seat in frustration.
"Madam, is there a problem?" The taxi driver asked, eyeing her through the rearview mirror with clear irritation.
"No," Elena forced a tight smile, turning her face toward the window as the blur of evening traffic streamed past.
'Did someone go through my phone?'
The question hit her like a stone.
'Did someone delete it? But who...'
A single name flashed through her mind and the realization drained the warmth from her body.
"No wonder he insisted on walking me to the door," She whispered in horror. "He already knows. Damn it."
Her fingers trembled as she opened her call log and dialled Kai's number.
Thankfully, he picked up immediately.
"Elena… is everything alright?" Kai's calm and steady voice flowed through the receiver.
