Ruby stood inside the guest restroom staring at her flushed reflection on the mirror, her body still trembling with a mixture of excitement and dread.
"One billion dollars!" She echoed in her heart, her glassy eyes rimmed with tears. "This has got to be a dream. It can't be real."
"Ruby, are you finished?" Elena called from behind the closed bathroom door.
"Almost!" Her voice cracked as she hurriedly dabbed her teary eyes for the sixth time, desperately trying to regain her crumbling composure.
"Please hurry up in there, or I'll come in again and drag you out myself." Elena snapped impatiently.
"Okay, mummy." Ruby chuckled softly as she quickly retouched her makeup. She smiled at her reflection one last time before exiting the bathroom.
"Finally!" Elena gave an exaggerated sigh causing Ruby to chuckle even more. "Let's go meet with your future investors and close more business deals. And please, no more emotional outbursts."
