Chapter 23
Elora's POV
The room felt too quiet after Kael walked out.
I sat on the edge of the bed with my fingers clenched tightly around the sheets, staring at the door like it might suddenly open again. My head still felt light and heavy at the same time. The alcohol I drank earlier had not completely left my system, and my thoughts moved slower than usual.
The party music still thumped faintly through the walls, but it sounded distant now, like it was happening in another building entirely.
Ronan leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. His eyes stayed on me the whole time, watching every little movement I made.
For a long moment, neither of us spoke.
"You are staring at the door like he is coming back," Ronan finally said.
I looked away immediately.
"I was not staring."
"You were."
His tone carried a small hint of amusement, but his gaze remained sharp and observant.
