Chapter 5 - Encounter

Chapter Five

Elora's POV

The breeze brushed against my skin as I walked down the lonely street. The night had stretched too long already, and the reality of my decision was starting to hit me. I shouldn't have stormed out of the house. The air was cold, the road empty, and every shadow seemed to move with a life of its own.

Fear crept into my chest, wrapping its cold fingers around my heart. I kept glancing behind me, praying silently that nothing would jump out of the dark. Maybe I should have swallowed my pride and asked them to take me back to school, or just stayed inside pretending to be fine. But no, they were assholes. I didn't owe them that.

Still, I couldn't help but wonder if they were worried. Probably not. They were my mates after all, and in their minds, I could take care of myself pt maybe they just wanted me dead because they all knew how weak I was?

The wind rustled through the trees again, louder this time, making my stomach twist. The further I walked, the darker it got.

"Please, moon goddess," I whispered under my breath, "keep me safe from all evil."

Then, I heard it — muffled voices floating through the air. My steps froze. The voices got clearer with every passing second, laughter mixing with slurred words. They were close.

The road curved ahead, but I didn't need to see them to know they were coming from that direction. My fingers trembled as I took a step backward. The next moment, three figures appeared under the dim light.

They didn't notice me at first, but it didn't take up to a minute before they saw me coming.

"Ouu! Look who we have here," one said, slurring slightly. His lips curled into a smirk as his eyes roamed over me.

I took a step back. My legs trembled. My hands instinctively reached for the pouch of sand tied around my waist. I tried to remind myself to stay calm. I could do this. I had to.

"Where you going, little girl?" the second one asked, stepping closer. His voice was rough, and I could smell the alcohol on his breath.

"I… I'm just walking," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Walking alone in the dark? That is brave, or maybe stupid," the third one said, eyes glinting in the faint light. He leaned forward slightly, as if testing how I would react.

I clenched my fists. "I'm not afraid of you," I said, though my voice quivered slightly.

The first one laughed. "Not afraid, huh? I like that. Shows some spirit. But we can change that." He stepped even closer, and I could feel the heat of his body.

I knew I had to act. Slowly, I reached into my pouch, my fingers brushing the coarse sand inside. "I will never be your prey," I said, louder this time.

The second one grinned. "Prey? You think this is a game?" He stepped to block my path.

"I can make this a game," the first one said, tilting his head. "Maybe we should teach her a lesson first. What do you think, boys?"

I backed away, but they advanced, cornering me against the street wall. My heart raced. I tried to plan an escape. I had no weapons, no strength, only sand. My hand closed tightly around the pouch.

Then I acted. With every ounce of strength, I threw the sand into the first guy's face. He screamed and stumbled back, rubbing his eyes. I ran, my legs pumping like pistons. The second guy lunged at me, but I dodged just in time. The third tried to grab me, but I slipped past him, my fingers grazing his arm as I ran.

"Get her! Don't let her escape!" one shouted, finally finding his voice.

I ran blindly, hoping the shadows would hide me, but suddenly a hand wrapped around my arm. My stomach dropped, and before I could scream, a sharp sting burned through my neck. My vision blurred. My legs gave way, and I collapsed onto my knees. The world spun violently around me.

My body went numb. Fear vanished instantly, replaced by a strange, heavy warmth. A smile crept across my lips without my control. My heart still raced, but in a different way now. The urge to be touched pulsed through me, spreading through every inch of my body.

I shook my head trying to make sure I regained every consciousness, but it didn't work..

Then I heard it. A loud car horn, piercing through the night. The three guys froze, and I could see their surprise.

"Run! It's the professor!" one yelled.

They bolted instantly, vanishing into the dark. My knees shook, but I felt a sliver of relief.

Then he was there. The professor. He appeared as if from nowhere. I could see only his shoes at first — polished black leather, perfectly clean. His trousers were sharp, the crease running down the front perfect. Even from this angle, I could tell he carried himself with a calm authority that made my body respond.

He squatted down beside me, close enough that I could feel the heat of his body. His hands brushed against my skin when he lifted me gently, his touch light yet firm.

"You look so cute," I said, my voice smooth and drowsy.

I blinked, struggling to focus through the haze clouding my mind. My fingers reached for his face instinctively, brushing his lips softly. I knew I shouldn't be doing this, but I couldn't stop myself.

"You are not in your right senses right now," he said, holding my wrist firmly. "You need to go home."

"To my house?" I whispered, leaning closer, my body responding against my will. "Or maybe somewhere else?"

He didn't flinch. His calmness only made my pulse race faster. I could see the faint glint of his eyes through the blur, strong and sharp, scanning me, reading me.

He sighed, pulling me toward him slightly, then lifted me to carry me to his car. Every movement was precise, controlled, like he had done this countless times. The warmth of his body pressed against mine when he placed me into the seat. His presence alone was intoxicating, and I felt heat rise to my cheeks.

"You didn't answer me. Where the hell are you taking me?" I asked, voice quivering, half from fear and half from the strange desire coursing through me.

"Just shut up, human girl," he said, glancing into the rearview mirror at me. His eyes met mine, and for a moment the world narrowed down to just the two of us.

"Human girl?" I snapped, anger bubbling up through the haze. "Do you know how much I hate that word? Do you know how annoying it is? Why do you have to call me that? You just met me for the for the first time." My words slurred while I scolded him at the same time.

I felt the urge to shout at him, but I couldn't.

He sighed again, clearly frustrated. "You will figure it out soon. But that does not change the fact that you are a human. Humans are rare in this world."

I leaned back, feeling the strange influence of what had been injected into me making my body restless. "I just had a fight with my mates. I want them to feel the anger I felt. And I need your help."

The most nastiest thought came into my head at that moment. I didn't care about what he'd think. Yes, I'm desperate as fuck.

He looked at me again, unblinking. "And how am I supposed to help?"

I tilted my head, a playful smirk forming on my lips. "Sleep with me first. That will make them really, really mad."

He did not reply immediately. I felt his gaze on me through the mirror, strong and unreadable. My pulse raced, and even through the strange fog in my mind, I could see that he was a force I could not ignore.

"Okay, Miss Elora."

How the fuck did he get to know my name?
