"What the hell?"
"Did they slip the moment she thought of it? or was it just a coincidence? It had to be or I am losing my mind" Eva thought to herself
"Who spilled water here?" Eva mother yelled, snapping Eva back from her thought, she got up from the bed and assisted her to get up
"Are you okay?" Eva said staring at her mom and Lizzy who may or may not have been hurt by her
"I am fine, just get something to clean the water" her mom said before facing Lizzy, "what are you doing here?, didn't I ask you to use your drugs?"
"I wanted to ask new sissy to help me with it before I slipped. And why are my drugs yellow?, yuck" Lizzy said gesturing with her hand and pouting her face slightly.
"let's go to your room, I will help you " her mother said before lifting herself up and hold Lizzy in her arm and carried her out of the room
Eva just sighed, "I think I am losing it" she said to herself before stepping into the bathroom. She was lost in her own mind and the whole world seemed to be in slow motion. She ran her fingers along the bathroom wall, the elegant yet subtle tiles brought a sense of calm as she admired it.
Eva slid off her dress before stepping into the steamy, bubble bath, submerging herself slightly, letting the warm water wash all her worries away. She lingered in the bath a little too long. She had always been that way from a kid. She'd always throw a tantrum whenever her mother tried to bathe her and after she enters the water, she'd refuse to come out. She let out a soft sigh and open her eyes before standing and rescuing for her towel.
She was getting ready to sleep. It wasn't late, but sleeping earlier than usual saved her slit of drama all while growing up. "Slip your file to the front" Eva heard, Eva didn't notice the voice the first time, it was deep and commanded authority, so it had to be a man's voice.
"No, you either come to me and say it or I am just losing my mind" Eva yelled out in her room, not really expecting anything.
As she lay down on her bed she remembered how the voice saved her for eating poisoned food. Maybe whatever was talking could be saving her from something else too. She wanted to ignore but she couldn't get it off my mind.
Eva reluctantly she sat up from her bed, she left her room back to Frederick's room but she made sure to knock this time
There was no reply she knocked again but no reply, she opened the door slightly and found there was no one in the room
She closed the door behind her and made her way to his study room, she entered and went straight to his files and documents, she found the files she gave him and was about to put it on the top of the other document.
She noticed, as she was about to leave, that there was a brown envelope atop the pile of documents and if she put the files on top, it'd be obvious someone came here. she didn't know what to do but she chose to trust the voice in here head and kept it on top before leaving the study
She went to her room and crashed on her bed. Her life seemed to get crazier by the day and it's drained her
....
"Morning" Eva woke up to her mother's voice. Her mother opened her curtains, Eva hissed like a vampire avoiding it's death, covering her eyes. She could swear her mother was trying to blind her. "wear something nice today, we are heading out today" she said before turning to the door to leave.
"I don't want to participate in any pretend family bonding" Eva whined
"I wouldn't be walking out the door if your opinion mattered" her mom said before closing the door behind her.
Eva lazily got up from her bed and took her bath. She stood in front of the mirror again. Now that she had realized what she looked like, she became skeptical as to what to wear.
She stared at the dresses in the closet, she couldn't seem to find anything she could wear comfortable. She tried on a few dresses and she managed to find an excuse that convinced her it was terrible. "This one is too revealing, too loose, hogs too much attention…"
Eva sat hopelessly on her bed, staring at the clothes on the floor. She picked up her phone and searched for fashion recommendations online. She scrolled for a while and sighed, giving up "At this point, whatever goes, goes" she thought as she picked up the clothes and arranged them, putting on the rest.
After a few minutes, she came out of her room walking down the stairs. She wore a black jean jacket, adjourned with golden stones and jewelry, a purple crop top that exposed her flat, flawless stomach as well as a black jeans and white sneaker. The rest of the family stared at her in shock and after a few seconds of silence, like asked the question on everyone's mind "Eva, you know how to dress like a girl?". Eva's face flushed slightly and she looked away, not knowing her to handle this new form of attention.
Fredrick cleared his throat and spoke "Since we are all here, let go" Fredrick before taking
Eva mom hand and leading her to car while the rest followed behind
They started their journey, everyone was busy on their phones, even Lizzy was busy, playing games on her tablet, Eva just stared out the window reading anything and everything that fell within sight.
"don't you have a phone, Eva?" Fredrick asked looking at her via the rear view mirror
"Oh, I do but I don't use it much" Eva said not looking a way from the window
"Wow, it is rare to find a teenager who doesn't spend half of their alone time with their phones; you're really mature"
"well you can thank my beloved mother"
Eva's mom turned back to catch the slightest hint of sarcasm but Eva was still focused on the window and Seemed to be rather lost within her thought.
The car came to halt and everyone looked off their screens, they had reached their destination. The all got down from the car and proceeded the large mall in front of them. They walked around, Eva's mom taking pictures and posting on social media at every given opportunity.
Fredrick got her some jewelries and bags, Luke got the latest gaming console and all Lizzy wanted were dress up dolls and fairytale princess' set up. they we went to eat after a while, making their way to the mall's restaurant.
They all are in silence for a while before Fredrick said "Eva, you still haven't picked out anything you liked yet, we are going to the fashion section next"
Eva thought, suspicious of his intentions. He was always nice but this was different. this man wanted to buy her things? the same man she wants make sure he doesn't extort her mother? was Jayden wrong? was he just a good man who she may have misjudged? Or maybe he is just saying this so I won't be left out and then give an excuse on why we can't go again, Eva thought to herself.
She decided to not excite herself too much and as soon has they were done, he excused himself and Eva congratulated herself for being right
"Why did you wear this particular dress?" Luke asked
What kind of question was that can't I wear what I wanted to, Eva asked herself "do you have a problem with it?"
Luke just looked a way and back to his phone, not saying a word. What was that all about? She thought as she looked away dismissively.
"Alright, let go" Fredrick said has the took the lead out of the mall then he stopped
"How could I have forgotten" he turned to Eva " we haven't gotten you anything. I'm, everyone sorry for the hold up, you all can go wait in the car while me and Eva go pick something" Fredrick smiled in an apologetic manner.
"Does this man plan to kidnap me?" Eva stared in thought
