Felix stopped.
He turned around slowly, his eyes taking in the face of the man who had spoken.
"...Big brother," he called out softly, his voice trembling with disbelief.
Jack nodded, tears already spilling from his eyes. This was the second time he had heard Felix speak.
"Chatterbox," he said again, stepping forward and pulling Felix into a bear hug.
Felix froze.
He never thought they would meet again.

He and his mother moved to a new town, escaping from his abusive father. The man used to gamble away all the money his mother worked for, and beat them when he came home drunk after losing. One day, his father beat up his mom so badly that she ended up in the hospital. The police were involved, and he was charged. In exchange for her dropping the charges, he signed the divorce papers and gave up custody.
But he didn't stop coming after them. Anytime he needed money, he would show up banging at the door of their new apartment.
