Kai finished playing his game around midnight, so hungry that his stomach rumbled. He stretched and walked out of his room. Felix's door was shut. He padded down the stairs, waking Hunter, who trotted up to him with wobbly steps.
"Hey buddy, are you hungry too?"
Hunter gave a soft bark in reply.
Kai walked up to the fridge and opened it.
Sigh. Still empty.
Grumbling, he went back up the stairs and pushed open the door to Felix's room.
No one was there.
The studio was just as empty, only papers filled with unfinished drawings littered the floor.
Kai frowned. He closed the door and stood in the hallway for a moment before heading to the garden, thinking Felix might be doing some midnight gardening. He did that sometimes when he needed to think.
Nothing. Just the plants swaying gently in the breeze.
He returned to his room, picked up his phone, and called Felix.
The call connected, but Felix didn't pick up.
