Hajime was now registered with the Gardeners Adventurers guild. As his first assignment, he was to go on a goblin subjugation quest. At the outskirts of Ambrose, he wonders how he can develop his powers. Thinking back to his rank evaluation, he still has no idea what the reaper class does. Lily snaps him out of thought, her mist form hovering around his shoulder.
She stresses on the need to develop his rank so as to properly wield her in all her glory. Hajime, ever so lack-luster simply stares at her with annoyed eyes. They soon make it to the Ambrosia Woods, a domain of untraversed forestlands, crawling with all kinds of monsters and mythical creatures.
Eager to test his skill and improved physique, he draws a sword from his storage dimension pouch. Out of annoyance, Lily shouts at him, refusing to let what she called, "a sorry excuse of a blade be used instead of her".
Hajime retorted, refusing to use her in such an unknown field of combat from fear of having all his mana sucked out in an instant. However, Lily refuses to back down, and tells him about his irregularly high amount of mana which shocks Hajime.
Not wanting to argue with a floating mass of magic, he walked away. Soon after, rustling leaves caught their attention, and from the bushes, a group of goblins made their way out.
Hajime got on his guard and was ready to face them with all he had.
There was an old saying, " where you see a goblin, expect a horde in wait". Hajime dashed forward, long sword in hand. The goblins,although monsters, were somewhat aware of their actions and were evolving in craft akin to humanity. They too charged with daggers in hand. Their formation was solid and they were confident that a three against one battle meant victory for the one who had the numbers on their side. However, Hajime's escape from death was far from over. And he was not about to loose to a horde of goblins. With one more step forward, he thought of what to do and suddenly an idea came. In an instant Hajime's form vanished before the goblin's eyes. Reappearing behind them he sheathed his blade and turned back as the cuts he dealt split the goblins into chunks of butchered flesh.
At the moment of attack, he realized that going head on might incur some unwanted risks. He suddenly remembered a trick Bianca had used to close distances between them sometime ago. Deciding to replicate it, he focused on tapping into his wind affinity. Which worked, leading to a successful kill. He was still in ecstacy over his recent victory, when a screen flashed to life before him. On a the screen a message was written. A message that changed Hajime's view of power and what it meant to have it.

Hajime was shocked and was still processing what was going on. Both he and Lily had no idea what the system was explaining.
In this world, only few could wield unfathomable power capable of rivalling gods. These beings were said to be able to hear the voice of the Revered, which was basically the same voice that was explaining his system window just now.
Before he could process the information, the system spoke again.

Hajime stared at the window in shock. The only question that came to mind was "how?". He did not understand why he had this system and why the system chose him however, he was certain of one thing, he was going to take full advantage of it. The shock on his face slowly morphed into a sadistic grin. Looking in the direction where the goblins came out of, he saw multiple pairs of blood thirsty eyes staring at him in the darkness. Still wanting to conserve energy, he took out his longsword once more and beckoned the hord to attempt a charge at him. He steeled himself, vowing that no matter what, none of his loved ones would be taken away again.
