Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven— Shattered Illusion

The morning sun barely broke through the curtains when the entire team gathered again in Jiwoo's living room. The air pulsed with urgency, a map flickering in holographic red across the table, each glowing node representing another piece of the Crimson Circle's venomous reach. Everyone was tired, but no one dared show weakness.

Jiwoo stood tall, gaze sharp."Director Han's influence runs deeper than we imagined. If we don't expose the Crimson Circle before they launch Project Eclipse, there won't be a world left to save."

Elias folded his arms, eyes glinting with something dark and dangerous."I've infiltrated their comms. They're organizing a global summit in two days—every top operative, investor, and puppet in one room. If we disrupt that… we hit the core. They lose everything."

Dr. Min exhaled, rubbing her temples. "If all high-ranking members gather, security will be suffocating. We'll need intel, access, and a counter-strategy ready before stepping anywhere near that summit."

Jungwoo crossed his arms. "And a backup plan. These people don't play fair. They'll burn the building down before letting us walk out with evidence."

Joonhyuk leaned forward, tapping a blinking point on the projection. "I can gather disguises, credentials, and safe exit points. But once we're in, there's no turning back."

Jiwoo nodded slowly. "Then we don't turn back."

The room went silent. Determination settled thick in the air, binding them tighter than any oath.

By afternoon, Haeun's apartment looked like a war room disguised as a tech cave. Cables snaked across the floor, holograms hovered above her screens, and code cascaded like waterfalls as she worked.

"These messages…" she muttered, isolating lines of encrypted text. "This summit involves people with massive power—tech giants, political leaders, investors, black-market handlers. If we expose them publicly, the whole world will see what the Crimson Circle really is."

Jiwoo leaned against the wall. "Then we gather evidence no one can deny."

Haeun smirked over her shoulder. "You know, speaking of evidence… you and Joonhyuk looked very close during the last mission. Should I prepare the wedding invitations? Maybe a dramatic slow-motion kiss under gunfire? Or perhaps—"

Jiwoo's eyes widened. "Haeun—stop."

"Should I also add a scene where he carries you bridal-style while explosions happen behind you?"

"Haeun."

"Or what if you two—hey—HEY!"

Jiwoo lunged for her as Haeun bolted around the sofa, shrieking with laughter."Stop imagining things!" Jiwoo shouted, reaching for her collar.

"Nope!" Haeun dodged the couch, Jiwoo chasing her in circles.

"You're dead!" Jiwoo yelled.

"Catch me first, Detective Kim!"

For a moment—just one light, fragile moment—the weight of the Crimson Circle vanished. Two best friends, laughing breathlessly, chasing each other like kids again.

Haeun finally collapsed on the sofa, gasping for breath."Fine, fine—I'll stop… for now."

Jiwoo glared. "Good."

But her lips curved into a helpless smile.

Night coated the Busan dockyards in a cold metallic sheen. The abandoned warehouse ahead loomed like a forgotten beast, broken windows glowing faintly from inside.

"This place is crawling with guards," Joonhyuk whispered, scanning the perimeter. "One wrong step and we're done."

Before anyone could respond, a slow, mocking laugh echoed through the darkness.

A shadow separated itself from the wall.

A woman stepped forward—her posture confident, her eyes sharp with old secrets.

"Kang Minji," Jiwoo breathed. "What are you doing here?"

Minji smirked. "I could ask you all the same. But…" She tilted her head. "It seems our goals finally align."

Jungwoo narrowed his eyes. "You worked with the Crimson Circle."

"I did. Past tense." Her voice darkened. "And I know how to help you destroy the empire they've built."

Jiwoo studied her carefully. "Why now?"

Minji's smile faded. "Because I've seen what their future looks like—and I refuse to be part of it."

Back at Jiwoo's house later that night, tension thickened as Minji spread her files across the table.Maps. Photos. Surveillance logs. Names.

Her finger hovered over one image.

"There's a mole in your team," she said quietly.

The room froze.

"Their identity is still hidden, but they've been leaking information for months. Missions have failed because of them. If you don't find them soon… everything you're building will collapse."

Jiwoo clenched her fists. "Then we find them. Fast."

Her voice was steady, but her heart hammered violently.Someone among them—someone she trusted—had betrayed her.

Her phone buzzed.

A new message.

A video.

Director Han appeared on the screen, elegant and calm, his smile lined with cruelty.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Jiwoo." His voice slithered through the speakers. "Every move you make brings you closer to the truth… and closer to your own destruction."

The video ended abruptly.

Silence.Heavy.Smothering.

Jiwoo lowered the phone, her eyes gleaming with cold defiance.

"Let the game begin," she said quietly. Her tone fierce enough to slice steel.

"Because in the end—you will be the one who falls."
