Chapter 60 - Gold coin

All around were stones and wood. There were dozens of NPC corpses lying on the ground. In the rubble, dozens of players were cursing and rummaging through the stones.

We stood still for a moment. Baxter shouted at one of the players, "What happened?"

The player looked at us and said, "Just now, that wanted-be psychopathic mage came here."

The Fantasy Divine God weaved a gasp. He had come this far!

Unbelievable! This Fantasy Divine God had gone crazy like this. Not only did he kill people, but he also destroyed houses. Many players had their items stored at home.

Suddenly, a knight appeared from the village. It was Lancelot. He was also stunned: "What's going on? I didn't set the line in the house. How did I get out? SHIT, my home!"

Sympathetically looking at these people, I couldn't help asking, "The Lord of Sunset City didn't send two officers? This place has been destroyed like this. Didn't they come?"

As soon as I finished speaking, a knight and a warrior appeared in the teleportation array. Behind them was an old man.

The knight immediately shouted, "Where is that wanted criminal?"

Then, the old man's cry: "Oh my, my village is destroyed. I won't live anymore!"

I saw that all three were NPCs. I guessed that they might be the village head of Caiyu Village and the two officers involved in the wanted.

I took a step forward: "Why did you come so late? Aren't you on standby?"

The knight cursed: "There were too many players being so despicable. They sent a message saying the wanted criminal was in the south part of the city, and when I rushed there, I found out they were lying and tricking me into fighting a BOSS monster. Huh, I'm so angry. But I didn't let them get any advantage. I killed the BOSS and picked up all its loot."

The warrior also sighed: "You're lucky. I received twenty or so false intelligence reports within a day. The cost of the teleportation array alone cost me several gold coins."

The old man sat down on the ground, muttering: "If only my village had a telepathic device…"

I suddenly remembered something and hurriedly asked, "The two gentlemen, do you know which three villages the wanted criminal destroyed first?"

The knight ignored me, but the warrior exclaimed: "Oh, it's actually Lord Quasi-Duke. Sorry for my rudeness. Don't call me Duke. I haven't received any titles yet."

The knight looked at me in surprise and his attitude changed a little. Knights usually came from noble families, and only nobles could afford to maintain horses and equip knightly equipment. This knight, although not wearing a noble emblem, it seems that his ancestor was a noble, so he was so arrogant.

The warrior said, "The villages destroyed by this wanted criminal are the Village of Flight…"

I interrupted him: "Is there a map?"

The warrior took out a map of the Sunset City area and I looked at it. The villages attacked, although not in a straight line, were all adjacent. From this, it seemed that the Fantasy Divine God was killing the villages one by one.

Connected to Caiyu Village is the Village of Sunset Lion and my Lost Village. I tightened my heart: "Two of you, the next target of the Fantasy Divine God must be the Village of Sunset and the Lost Village. With its phoenix-like speed, it can arrive in a few hours. I think you should go and guard these two villages separately!"

The two shook their heads: "No, the program setting, no, it was the Lord Mayor's order. We have to rush there as soon as we hear the alarm information. It's impossible to stay in one place."

We all fainted. We really have stubborn minds.

Let's not bother them. The Tiger King was also a little worried and immediately went to the Village of Sunset with Honey, to guard the valuable items at home.

The White Feather and Baxter brothers were people who were always around their homes. They weren't in a hurry. They went to the Lost Village with me to make preparations. I saw Lanxus roaring, so I went up to him and called out, "Lanxus, this village has been destroyed. Why don't you come to our Village of Desolation instead? I'm the lord of that village and I want to make you my friend."

Lanxus glanced at me and roared, "I won't go. I want to hunt down that notorious fugitive!"

I said slowly, "If that's what you really want, then you should come to our village instead. The next target of the Divine Magic God might be our Village of Desolation!"

I wasn't trying to get Lanxus to go to the Village of Desolation and die, but I admitted that I was being selfish right now. I hoped that more people would gather in the Village of Desolation to defend my village. Anyway, I couldn't let my village become a ruin like the one before, that was my heart's blood!

Lanxus stared at me for a long time and believed what I said. We hurriedly returned to the Village of Desolation.

When we got back to the village, I went straight to the Telepathy Platform and sent a message to the Lord of Sunset City, explaining my speculation and hoping that he would order to focus on defending Sunset Village and the Village of Desolation. The Lord of Sunset City replied to me, "I have handed this matter over to the people below. Please contact 'Sunset Warrior 008' and 'Sunset Knight 052'."

Oh, what's the use of finding these two idiots? I sent another message to explain, but the reply was still the same. I couldn't help thinking that maybe the Lord of the City had activated the "Automatic Reply" function...

It seems that the Lord of the City is too busy for now. I can't count on him. I sent another message to Master Shi: "Master Shi, could you introduce other masters who can build magic columns to me?"

Master Shi replied, "Among the four nearest cities, the only ones who can build magic columns are me and you!"

Oh my god, making me build magic columns at an intermediate first-class level, I don't know how many magic crystal stones will be ruined.

At this time, Bai Yu and others had already gone off on their own. They couldn't help me here either.

I used my last trick, using the Telepathy Platform to issue a city-wide announcement: "According to reliable information, the next target of the Divine Magic God will be Sunset Village or the Village of Desolation, one of them."

Forget it. Even if the Divine Magic God doesn't come, at worst, I'll be called a liar and a rumor-monger by the players. But it's better than my village being destroyed. Besides, when the Divine Magic God sees this news, he will know that these two villages have been prepared in advance and might change his route.

This move was indeed effective. In less than ten minutes, nearly a hundred heroes from various places had emerged from the teleportation array, and more were constantly coming here.

I sighed in relief, but the large number of people couldn't defeat the Divine Magic God. I still had to make preparations.

I went to find the herder brother and asked bluntly, "How much did you sell the horses for? Give it to me!"

In that instant, I saw several faces turn pale in front of me. The herders' favorability towards me had dropped to the lowest level!

The herders placed 100 gold coins in my hand and suddenly mounted their horses and rushed out of the village. Only one herder remained whose face wasn't too pale.

I stared at them blankly. I knew why they were angry. I kept taking the money they gave me for selling the horses and spending it all on my own affairs, not treating them as my tribe's leader and not fulfilling even a little bit of responsibility. If it weren't for my previous friendship with them, they might have left me long ago.

Fortunately, there was still one herder to keep an eye on these hundreds of horses. I promised him that I would return to the Harsa Tribe to do the things a tribal leader should do soon and hold him steady. Then, I strode off to find the Village Manager.

The funds of the village's finance were increasing rapidly as the arriving players increased. I was extremely excited and temporarily forgot about the departure of the herders. I took out all 301 gold coins in the current finance.

Turning around, I saw the disappointed look on the old village head's face. The old village head sighed, "Competing against fate, I originally thought that handing over this village to you would make it a happier place, because you were a player who never cared about yourself for the benefit of the villagers. You would try to hold the wolf king back for A Bo, you would delay your level-up time for A Shui, and you would specially go to Blue Jade Mountain to look for magic crystal stones for the village. But now, I only see you taking money out of the village and putting it in your own pocket every day. I was wrong about you!"

I couldn't say a word. "Old village head, I took the money really for the village, I..."

The old village head waved his hand. "I'm getting old. I should have rested long ago. To help you build this village, I stayed on, but now I know it's meaningless. I'm resigning to you."

I broke out in cold sweat. I really couldn't explain clearly for a moment. Only by buying back the magic crystal stones and bringing back the mercenaries with facts could I prove it.

I grabbed the old village head and said, "If you're resigning, you can't leave now. Wait for me for one day, okay? Give me time to find a new candidate."

The old village head didn't say anything. My heart grew more and more anxious. I didn't know when the god of magic would arrive. There was no time left. I had to act quickly.

Entering the teleportation array, I rushed to Sunset City and headed straight for the underground black market.

I had exactly 500 gold coins on me now. I hurriedly wandered around the talent market. Except for that young man Louison, all the 60-level or above job seekers were outrageously expensive. The price on the chairs was 800 gold coins for each use. I tried sending a message to negotiate the price, but that NPC directly replied with one word: "NO!" And a 54-level warrior asked for 400 gold coins each time, still not negotiating.

Although it's cheaper without good quality, Louison was already my only choice. I resolutely hired him.

Louison took 300 gold coins and bowed deeply to me. "Thank you. From now on, you are my lifelong master. Please wait for me for a moment. I'll take the money to ask the doctor to treat my mother."

My heart ached. Another touching story. God, please don't torture me like this.

I hurriedly ran to the item market to have a look. The underground market was different from the outside. Most things here were unverified. It was said that some things that seemed to have been verified looked like illusions and were actually deceptive tricks. It all depended on the luck of the buyer.

Usually, monsters that suddenly burst out didn't have verified items. They could be identified as gold or silver items or higher. Here, even the level couldn't be distinguished. Everything was packed in black bags, only indicating the type of item.

I knew the setting of this game. It couldn't let players be deceived every time. There must be valuable things in these black bags. According to the help introduction of the game, many items with special attributes could only be bought in the black market.

I walked around for a full 100 gold coins and felt powerful. At first, I smartly bought things from those old people, children, young girls, and disabled people. But it was all wooden, stone, and iron items. I was so frustrated.

Later, I found a guy who looked the most cunning. It worked. In a pocket of one gold coin, there was a silver warrior hat with four additional attributes. It could be sold for 3 gold coins on the market.

However, I didn't expect that this was exactly his trap. Next, I bought more than twenty items from his stall. But all of them were garbage...

Crazy. It seems that today isn't a good day. I depressedly touched my heart and left the black market.
